I know this review was 4 yrs ago at this point, but, I wear ear plugs when I ride, and am wondering - when you put the C3 Pro on, does pulling the helmet down over your head break the ear plug “seal?” Thanks, and nice to read a longer term review👍.

Great review! I heard the new C4 doesn’t replace the C3 but rather compliments it. C4 for more sport bike and sport touring usage with your head is tilted downward. C3 for more upright seating.

Yes, that is what I understand as well. Also, in the German description it mentions that the C3 is for naked bikes, and the C4 for bikes with a windshield

Hi just purchased a C3 pro, thanks for your review! Does your visor lock firmly closed? Mine is very light, the one in the store I tried had a very stiff visor into the fully closed position. It was the c3 light at cycle gear. I just want to make sure mine it’s defective. Thanks!

In the closed position, the visor is solid/stiff. In the little step above that it is a little loose.

Hey ! A great review. I’ve just purchased this, riding on a VStrom 650 with a Givi airflow, and the wind noise and buffeting which was apparent with a Shark helmet, has almost completely gone due to this C3 Pro. I got the gloss white, so looks fantastic. Riding at 65mph, I can have the visor open and have zero wind noise… I forgot my earplugs, but never notice! When I close the visor, it feels like I. A soundproof studio. A great helmet, and comfortable too… 🙏 cheers!

@@TexMexStrada did you get or try out the C5? I am close to being due to getting a new helmet but I am in no rush and have been looking at options and reviews anyway. But I feel like I have read comments about the C5 from people and I want to say that the C3 Pro is ranking higher than the C4 and C5. That is making me have the C3 Pro at the top of my list in both the full face and modular helmet options.

@@shaglioni I've only worn the C5 in a store, haven't ridden in one yet. It felt great in the store. I am actually waiting for the E2 to arrive in the US, as I like the look more than the C5, plus I prefer the additional versatility. The C3 Pro is a great helmet, but it is a little bit warm on very hot days, and I don't care for the pinlock it comes with. If neither is an issue for you (meaning you are in a cooler and dry climate), then I think you will be very happy with the C3 Pro at a much better price than the C5 / E2. The E1 may be worth a look as well in that case

Thank you for your kind words! Gently cracked the wind-noise is not an issue at all, marginally louder than open, and it significantly improves the ventilation. I hope this helps!

I live in Florida. At times it is very very hot. My big concern is airflow. I did hear your comments. Regarding summer heat, i currently have a Shoei Neotec and it can get really hot. I am assuming this helmet could be pretty unbearable in mid 90s with indexes in the low hundreds? Bearable or no? Did you find the fit right on or would it be better to size up? I have always worn Shoei helmets. Very good review!
@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and your kind words! As to heat: Our heat index down here in South Texas goes past 110 in the summer, and I've ridden the helmet in those conditions. It is manageable. You will need to crack the visor below 30mph, and open it up at the light, but above 30mph it is fine. The big caveat here is that I picked a design that is mostly white. If you go with a darker color, your results may vary significantly. As to the fit: I was spot on in terms of factory suggested sizing, but I have a Schuberth head as I mention in the video, so somewhere between round and oval, a smidge closer to round. Not as round as a Shark helmet, but a lot more round than HJC. If your head shape is different, particularly if it is more oval, or even long oval, I wouldn't recommend the Schuberth as you would lose all the benefits of a good fit (noise reduction, stability at any wind speed/angle) while gaining the disadvantage of discomfort (pressure points at the front & back of the head). I have a buddy who has a Shoei head and he is very uncomfortable in a Schuberth, and I am very uncomfortable in a Schoei. So, bottom line: For city cruising there are much more airy helmets, but for the byways & highways the (mostly white) C3 Pro is a good option, even in the summer. But you need to make sure your headshape fits the helmet. Most places will let you order it and try it on at home to see if it is good for you. Just like with any other german riding gear, if it doesn't fit you right (so is just gently tight uniformly around) when you put it on the first time around and doesn't feel "at home" after 5 minutes, it isn't the right shape/cut for you, so send it back and look for another manufacturer's option. I hope this helps! PS: if you have a fairing/windshield, take a look at the C4 Pro, the C3 Pro is truly small-shield/no-shield only. All comments above still apply with the C4 Pro.

How's it the buffeting? I have a naked bike (MT09) and use a Neotec 2. At +70mph, vibration is noticeable and vision is affected.
@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your follow-up! The aerodynamic stability of the helmet is outstanding, no appreciable buffeting from the helmet design, even in strong winds from odd angles. I am surprised you are having issues with the Neo2 though, it has a stellar reputation for stability as well. A couple things to consider: - what is your head shape? The Schuberth is rounder, the Shoei is more oval. Does the Neo2 fit you snug & comfortable, or do you have pressure points on the sides/ears? - do you have a flyscreen or tank bag, and which mirrors are you running on the mt09? Even small disruptions of airflow can have big implications for buffering. - How does your riding gear fit you? Particularly your riding jacket/shirt can have a huge impact on buffering around your helmet. If your clothing fits you loose and/or moves/flaps around at speed, that could be the source of you buffering. You can check that by cinching down your clothing real tight (either via built-in adjustments or using external ties/straps) and going for a ride to see if it makes a difference. I actually had that issue when I first got on a naked bike, the upper part of the jacket would move around slightly at speed causing massive turbulence around the helmet. I hope this helps!

@@TexMexStrada I rode this weekend without a jacket. 85% of the vibration was gone. Thanks for the recommendation.

@@wkanemitsu You are welcome, but I strongly advise against riding without proper gear. If you aren't at this time in the position to buy new gear that fits you better, get some of these in the proper length to cinch down your current jacket at the arms, it will make a significant positive difference: amzn.to/2Foh2Xt

Hello 👋 how about noise ? Isn’t noise in road ? Thanks a lot .
@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! I finds it is the quietest helmet I ever had, but, I have a Schuberth shaped head. It all depends on your headshape, that will determine how well the helmet fits you, and therefore how well it seals out the noise. Schuberth is somewhere between round & neutral in shape. I hope this helps!

I like to add if you have a head which is not suited to the Schuberth helmet you will suffer from pain just below your hair line as a slight pressure is pressed against that area. This isn't so apparent when you try the helmet in the shop. The other irritating thing is the edge of the pinlock remaining visible in your eye line. This is worse when the sun just makes it even more visible. The other thing I like to point out is you can't shut the chin bar with one hand. This is the most irritating thing about this helmet. With that in mind I'm really keen to get another helmet.

Thank you for sharing! You are correct, proper head shape fitment is critical to comfort & function. Sounds like you have more of a long oval head shape, so a Neotec II may be a better fit for you.

I've had the C3 Pro for a few weeks now and love it...mostly. It's nice spring weather, but when the visor is locked and I have my neck gaitor over my mouth, the anti-fog insert...fogs up. Pretty disappointing. Any ideas to improve this issue? I've had a Pinlock before/installed it etc so know how they work and my previous one on a different helmet worked just fine. I've seen elsewhere that this is an issue....
@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your follow-up! The helmet is really really well insulated, so I have a similar issue, but just in one corner of the pin lock (bottom right) where it isn’t much of an issue while riding. My best advice is to (gently) clean both the inside of the visor and the edges of of the pin lock insert like your life depends on it prior to installation (as it does afterall). Anything that could interfere with a good seal will cause the problem you described. I also focus on installing the pin lock by sliding it as little as possible, and rather (vary carefully) bending the visor into position during installation. After a few rounds and a particularly good installation (by feeling) I decided to leave it in permanently. Not optimal, and it bothered me for the first 100miles to see the pin lock there in my field of vision, but I got quickly used to having it there at all time. I hope this helps!

@@TexMexStrada Many thanks for your reply!! The Pinlock was pre-installed when I purchased the helmet, hence my disappointment. And it's the whole thing that fogs up, not just one corner. I will take it out and do all of those things you mentioned, but it looks like a perfect install to me. I always leave my Pinlock in place, unless it needs adjusting. Are they actually the Pinlock brand or their own brand as I cannot seem to find that info anywhere. Cheers from NZ :)
@TexMexStrada
@TexMexStrada 3 жыл бұрын
Got you. Yeah, in that case i recommend removing, cleaning, reinstalling very carefully. Good question about the branding, I think it is actual Pinlock, as I remember looking at their German site as I was exploring replacement visor options and it referred to the brand. Let me know if the cleaning & reinstalling job fixes the issue for you please. Ride safe, Howdy from Texas!

What can I do if my visor fogs despite the anti-fog lens? The anti-fog lens is made out of a type of plastic that absorbs moisture. The airtight cavity between the visor shield and the anti-fog lens also helps prevent the visor fogging. The anti-fog lens is not limited to a specific temperature range, but it is possible for moisture to accumulate in the airtight cavity between the visor and the anti-fog lens after riding in heavy rain or high wind pressure. If the visor mists up, it might be because the insert is not positioned correctly, or there is insufficient pressure on the seal. Pressure on the seal can be regulated by turning the two eccentric pins. You can resolve this by taking the anti-fog lens out, using a flat object without sharp edges to push the pins carefully out of the visor. Then turn them up to an angle of 180° and put them back in. Then fit the anti-fog lens again and check the seal. The visor shield has an anti-scratch coating on both sides, which means it is possible for fogging to occur around the anti-fog lens.

For pin locks fogging up, try removing it and dying it, let it stand in a warm place for a few hours, the, refit it.
