Is there not maybe a way to make it so that an observer can detect when the pig is at a certain point of the layer, and then detracts the line of blocks it’s at? Or do observers not work with mobs

Not that I could figure out. You might be able to make something like that with tripwire though

They generate in natually in specific places in specific Minecraft seeds. Here's one such seed: -2464334185163669257. From this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hdpxoax-rtKbm2Q.html. I'm not sure who first discovered this
