Thank you, as always, for being so generous - not only with the knowledge you already have, but also sharing your new ideas and experiments that you're trying out right now! I'm just getting started, and have a quick question: is it a good idea to spend a few days listing the considerable amount of winter items I have, or is it too late to do that? If it's not too late to list them, about what date would you say is a rough cut-off (if there is one)? Thanks again!
@cayleyelaine
@cayleyelaine Жыл бұрын
We are still figuring this out and getting better at it every year! We just pulled all of our winter items to get them listed ahead of our spring/summer items. I think next year we'll do it sooner but it's definitely not a bad idea to list them now because you'll still be able to get some sales from it before the season is over.
@LuLu-xs4sh
@LuLu-xs4sh Жыл бұрын
@@cayleyelaine That makes good sense to me (I just sifted & pulled winter items, then stacked them to wait on your answer, lol : ) Was trying to hit that glittery rainbow sweet spot of not listing them too late, of not having to discount them too much if I listed them too late, and of not going ahead and listing them now... only to have to keep them for many months as storage inventory before next Fall 😝

What do you do about items that have a very strange smell, like a cologne or just that general thrift store find smell...I find that even after washing it's still there
@michellecd4722
@michellecd4722 Жыл бұрын
@hsoprano777 I'm reactive to all those chemicals so I store them all in my finished basement, even new items will have a "smell" most often it's formaldehyde resin that's sprayed on everything & I'm actually allergic to that one. Eventually, most of the fragrances fade. I use all dye-free, and scent-free for my personal laundry so I may even need to air out or repeatedly wash thrifted items I've bought for myself.

@@michellecd4722 You sound like you have some extra sensitivities and have to take precautions above and beyond what a reseller would do. I think they were asking about how to get rid of clothing smells in order to sell them to someone else.
@helpfulcommenter
@helpfulcommenter Жыл бұрын
Hang the clothes up and spray with a mixture of vinegar and water (normal houshold white vinegar, like a 25% concentration with water) then let them air dry for 24 hours. (You can also add a little vodka or other clear ethanol to the spray and this will help kill bacteria that could be causing the smells) - Then wash them like normal. Also don't put things that started with a bad smell you're trying to wash out, in the dryer - let them air dry. The high heat can sort of make the smell worse, like "bake it in" to the garment. If the smell still lingers then you can try the vinegar again after washing. OR a real pro move is to have a special bin or tub (that you can seal with a lid) with the bottom of the bin about 6" of activated charcoal (put a layer of some kind of super breathable fabric over it, I use cheesecloth) and then close up the stinky clothes in the tub for as long as it takes, if it's real bad it could take a few days. Wash again. It should work. Whatever you do, don't spray the clothes with chemical sprays like Febreeze because that just "masks" the odors and doesn't eliminate them.

We try not to pick up anything with smells. But if we need to and washing doesn't work we try steaming it.

Most of my clothes smell good after I wash them, I remember one piece of name brand clothing had this horrible marijuana smell, I washed it multiple times, then washed it with vinegar but the smell didn't go away and eventually I had to throw it in the trash.

What’s the purpose of prices being .91?
@cayleyelaine
@cayleyelaine Жыл бұрын
Hi! We use a dating system to keep track of when we listed the items. So anything we listed in January ends in .91, February. 92, etc. Sometimes the prices are just what they are due to sending out % off offers. Also, there are lots of studies about buyer psychology that supports the idea that buyers think 9.99 is significantly cheaper than 10 even though it's just a cent.
