Regarding stun: Being stunned doesn't make a walking creature fall prone, so it wouldn't make a flying creature fall. If a flying creature is knocked prone, it is boned.
@garfield454

A flying creature knocked prone can actually attempt the "Arrest a Fall" reaction. If they succeed, they still drop to the ground, but they take no damage from the fall.

Reading along in the AP as Troy runs it for the gang is a lot of fun. It's cool to see how he adapts to the encounters, and helps me formulate ways I would try it his way, stick to the book 100%, or try something completely different. I am starting the AP for my group next week, and the POD/FOD have been a lot of help!

Yes! It's pretty cool to share the experience with them! That's another reason why I love that they play published materials, more than homebrew stuff

Boise, Idaho.....sweet spot, lotsa nerds around these parts. I will personally buy a half a dozen VIP ticks for our pathfinder 2e group. Been listening to you guys for years, please consider Boise as a stop between Portland and Colorado. Love you guys, keep it up!

I think Troy has mentioned in the past he doesn't have the time for this but man I would love! to see a GCN home brew campaign. I think it would actually take less effort on Troys part and alleviate the frustrations the players sometimes take out on the adventure path. It would allow you guys to create a story the way you want rather than the way the book might force you to.

100% Especially with how creative the GCP crew is it sometimes feels like a waste to have them mostly just follow pre written Adventure Paths. Like imagine if all their awesome characters got to focus on their backstory and flesh that out rather than have to spend most of thevtime doing point A to point B fetch quests in APs

Completely agree. As a GM myself, I have not found adventure paths, or pre-written modules, reducing my prep time all that much. If anything, they increase it. I have to make sure that I know who is related to who and what they’re doing in relation to the rest of the story. So I can’t make that stuff up on the fly.

I've never run a module/adventure path before, exclusively homebrew, and now that im in my stride with it (i only started DMing early last year), prep is mostly looking online for battlemaps, which i absolutely hate. the rest of the week it's all going in the back of my head, i have onenote and obsidian synced to my phone so i can write down any little thoughts i have about the world or the story. I envy people that run pre-written stuff simply for them (sometimes) not needing to worry about finding battlemaps, but it's been a really massive surprise to me that i dont spend 10+ hours prepping because I opted to build my own world and story. I recommend anyone try it at least for a mini-campaign. It's great and very personally rewarding.

No thank you. Personally, I am very interested in watching them play published APs and scenarios of any other game. I have zero interest in home brew campaigns. If they switched to homebrew, I would not renew my subscription. I love the way they interpret and enhance published materials. Keep up the great work please!

just a correction with attack of opportunity now called reactive strike, reactive strike does not disrupt Any action, only actions with the manipulate trait, i.e spells and abilities that have the manip trait. so you can still move after. the monks stand still ability is the only thing that i know that disrupts move actions. these types of reactions are specific. something we had to learn coming from 5e.

Hopefully, your Betrayal game is a good one. It's the most unevenly edited/written game I've ever played. Some scenarios are awesome. Some are terrible. Hope you get a good one!

I developed my own leveling system that combines the benefits of milestone and XP, but without a ton of match, and it also creates an economy where the same resource used to gain levels can be spent in other ways

This retreat sounds epic. Hope it becomes a GCP staple. You live tour is awesome also. You're all creating an empire! I love it. I hope we get some more interactive events like you're doing this year. I wish I could make Gen Con so bad. I would drop $ to hit one of those gauntlets. I know there's not much RP and more combat but I still think it would be awesome to improv with any of the cast members while battling out a combat session.

Question for Joe! Firstly I love attickus, my favorite character in campaign 2! but my concern is that if your character is spending his 'focus' on detecting magic AT ALL TIMES when exploring then if an encounter would errupt would he not get caught by surprise? Your character is spending his mental focus on maintaining a spell then that should effect his ability to react if something would jump out. I love the "always active state' of a character, like 'I always hve my bow drawn;. But if you alway are detecting magic then that should have effect on your ability to react if enemies jump out at you while you are 'Searching for magical traps/loot etc

Im with Joe on xp, though I usually run milestone. If the party finds a solution to avoid fighting whether by stealth, diplomacy, or sone other clever choice, then they get full xp. If they just "missed" the encounter by not doing a side quest, not checking out a door/room etc and just never knew it was there in other words, they don't get xp. As for APs, I think most of them usually include a little extra XP for each "level" to provide room for those encounters that party misses.

You are correct about personal antithesis. Be aware at later levels he does get a feat to also expand exploit vulnerability to creatures with the same weakness even if a diff creature. Also correct that the weakness doesnt double on crit. I suggest reading on resistances too as it does have a unique order of operations. Also keep in mind that a failed but not crit failed exploit vulnerability attempt can still grant a personal antithesis on the creature. It just cant grant the weakness if it has it. Diverse lore is strong. Be aware recall knowledge is not the same as exploit vulnerability. Exploit vulnerability is geared towards specific haunts, creatures, etc as listed and it uses esoteric lore check vs the standard dc for the creatures level and not the recall knowledge dc listed on the creature. Diverse lore allows you to use esoteric lore for recall knowledge checks on anything and not just creatures and haunts etc. But you take a -2 on the check. Bonuses to recall knowledge can improve this such as the latern implement and tome implement gives. Any bonuses to skill checks will give both a bonus the exploit vulnerability checks and regular esoteric lore recall knowledge checks. Another thing that Matthew and Troy should know is that thaumaturge get dubious knowledge feat for free at 1st. So if a recall knowledge check fails but doesnt crit fail he still gets 1 piece of truth and 1 lie.

In my GM experience, there is a difference between finding a solution that doesn't involve fighting, and straight up skipping something. I ran Curse of Strahd in 5e previously with my friends, with milestone. My group skipped any side missions not explicitly required for the adventure, and of the entire, huge castle, they sprinted through it and ended up only doing about 20% of it. So now I'm running Abomination Vaults with them XP, and I find that it's encouraging them to do side quests and check out that last room they otherwise might just never go to. They still try to talk their way out of fights, which is fine, and I give full XP (but don't double up if they eventually fight that same person later), I prefer XP so far.

I actually bought the entire gatewalker AP last episode since i had to know if the safety feature on the gondola was in the book or if Troy just wanted to torment Joe a bit longer. Also looking for the well telegraphed treasure that they missed. I wasnt planning on running it but maybe i will now P2E starter set say to award full exp for skipped encounters via stealth or diplomacy but not award any if they go back and kill it afterward, no dubble dipping

Their news is never actually news. Just always a waste of the a third of the fod with promos of things announced on their website. Not saying I don't get why, just saying I am starting to realize the fod is pretty worthless. Maybe just set a marker to skip? Wishful thinking.
