6.5 PRC TEST (Accurate Magpro powder)

In this video we test Accurate Magpro powder for accuracy and low standard deviation data. The powder is combined with the Berger VLD target 130gr bullets and CCI large rifle primers.

H4831sc has fared well for multiple 6.5 prc’s couple of us have worked on. Low es/sd and .25 inch groups.

I suggest checking the muzzle brake for proper clearance of the bullet. It should be 20 thousandths oversize if correct. Some muzzle brakes came out of bergara lately incorrectly drilled.

@@thewashingtonreloader in today’s climate, i have only been able to obtaining magpro for my prc reloading. Good to see the powders potential is there.

@@BulletBarDave Thanks for the comment. As of right now I have not yet verified the load. In a future video I will be taking the best loads of each powder and will be verifying them against each other with 5 shot groups. Do you have any good loads for the PRC? Remember to subscribe.

Looks like good potential. H1000 is a really good magnum powder. I have had mixed results with it in my 7mm mags. It seems to like heavier bullets for me. 160s the best. It can heat up a barrel about as fast as any powder I have used. 5 shots max for me before groups start stringing.

This video was much better than one I watched where you were going to settle for 1.5" 3 shot groups. Best to stick with proven powders that the manufacturers suggest. Magpro is one and Reloader 26 is rated pretty good for more velocity. I don't think you are going to do much better than the Magpro group you shot in this video. I think you should try a 5 shot group for verification on that one and if it works load up a box of 50 for satisfaction shooting. I do believe that Berger also makes a Match/Hunting bullet that is it shoots as well as what you shot you could load for hunting.

I have some loads worked up with magpro and the 153 A-Tips. I generally use N565 for my 6.5PRC but i have 8 pounds of MAGPRO and want to give it a go. I load my brothers 270 wsm with and it loves it.

I hear really good things about the N565 powder but I don't have any yet. Magpro has been the most accurate powder so far but make sure you subscribe because I have a lot of powders still to test. Haven't gotten any a-tips either, what kinda groups are you getting with that combination?

@@thewashingtonreloader with berger's 156 and N565 i shoot consistent .3-.4 moa groups at a 3015 avg velocity. I have yet to shoot an A-Tip with Magpro

@@hottub2609 I've heard those Berger's are great too. I've just recently got a bunch of hunting bullets to start testing because it's becoming that time of year. I'm excited to test hornady's 160gr RN.

I get .5 groups with magpro..id try lower charge and dont waste powder with .1 gr charges

Would you consider loading Ramshot Magnum with the Hornady 147 ELD-M's? It seems like it could be a good load to me but I haven't had a chance to try it.

How much barrel cooling time do you have between groups

Not enough and I know that effects accuracy. I've got new equipment and shooting procedures for the next round of testing and future powder tests.

Velocities seemed strangely erratic. Actually losing velocity as charges increased. Last charge was really good overall.

I also plan to test this powder with heavier bullets. Hopefully that will bring a little better standard deviations.

@@thewashingtonreloader That may be a possibility. Slow burners do typically like heavy for caliber better than light. I will look forward to watching that. My brother picked up a pound of this for his 300 WM. Maybe he has gotten similar results.
