This is the break down of what those numbers mean on your guard. Here's a little recap
0 Guard - 1/16th of an inch
1 Guard - 1/8th of an inch
1 1/2 Guard - 3/16th of an inch
2 Guard - 2/8th of an inch
3 Guard - 3/8 of an inch
and so on...
Clipper closed is bald or a zero. Clipper open is 1/16th of an inch or a "half"

Great job explaining the differences between the different clippers and congrats on hitting 1k viewers. To get more views make sure to ask people to like the video and subscribe if they got any value from it. Also, asking a question in your video for people to respond/comment down below helps your engagement with your audience and it helps the KZfaq algorithm.

So to fully understand this...I have 6 guards. No6. Says 3/4 and 19mm. Which means it will cut 3/4 inch or 19mm of hair in the open or closed postion.. and the no.1 guard says 1/8 and 3mm which will cut 1/8 or 3mm inch of hair in the open/closed position. I know I can't yet remember which is open and which is closed yet

Thank you so much for the help. I would like to ask a question that crossed my mind whilst watching the video. If we say for example that a 1 guard closed is 1 and 1 open is 1 and a half, why would we need another guard to our set when we can just open the lever. The same goes for the half guard.
@thephoenixbarber4435
@thephoenixbarber4435 2 жыл бұрын
because you still have a gap from the #1 guard open and the #2 guard close. Same goes for no blade open and #1 guard closed. The detail in-between those guards are crucial when creating a blurry fade

Thanks, these videos are very useful and easy to follow, much needed! Question, what’s the point of having a specific guard for 1.5 when this can be achieved simply by opening the lever on #1? Or have I missed something?
@thephoenixbarber4435
@thephoenixbarber4435 4 жыл бұрын
It helps with making the blend transition between the #1 and #2 very smooth. You dont "need" it if you have your technique down but it does help alot. and everyones hair fades differently. opening the #1 lever doesn't open directly into the #2 with the Wahl clippers. It opens up to a 3/16 instead of 4/16 which is the #2 guard or 2/8th. remember opening the lever only adds 1/16th

Hey bro, thanks for the awesome tutorial. One question though, why is a 0 guard open (1/16 inch) considered a 1? I thought when you open the teeth of any guard it would add 1/2 ( 1/16 + 1/2 = 9/16)??
@thephoenixbarber4435
@thephoenixbarber4435 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching, that is a very good question I can see where the confusion is coming from. I should've clarified this in my video and for that I apologize. Most commonly in the barber world the word "half" is in reference to 1/16. So when I say "the clipper with the lever open is a half" I mean it is 1/16. So when you add the zero guard on or the 1/16th guard and close the lever it is 1/16th of an inch. When you open the lever it becomes equivalent to the #1 guard which is 1/8th. Because 1/16th + 1/16th = 2/16th or 1/8th. I hope this helps clear up the confusion! If you have any other questions about the barber industry or tools please ask them here: forms.gle/hB3p2F6kCR89AuBi8 I'm going to be making a Q and A video once I get enough questions in

I have two questions, 1) If the blade by itself when fully opened is a "half," then what is a "half?" Is it a half-inch? 2) Then with the blade fully opened with each guard then you add a half-inch to each guard even the number #8 guard which would be an 8.5 guard? Thank you.

How to adjust the sound of WAHL USA shaver

ahmad deserto thanks for watching and supporting. Unfortunately you can not adjust the sound. I know the Wahl shaver is pretty loud. I’ve been using the Babyliss shaver in my tool kit and that one is much quieter and works better in my opinion compared to the Wahl and Andis shavers

next time showing the number of the guard being used you should show how the hair looks like when cut.
