What's funny about the "golden" nug being red is that the test for purity in the middle ages was heating. If it turned heated red, it was pure, so "red gold" was another name for pure gold.

Bioware goes hard on all the codex material that you might bypass completely. The Dragon Age world is full of backstory and lore and little details and so is Mass Effect. One of my favourite things to do in Mass Effect is read all the planetary descriptions. All the planets in that series could theoretically exist and all the detail work that goes into those games is just SO awesome. Not to mention all the Easter eggs hidden throughout, lol.
@cygnata
@cygnata 2 жыл бұрын
One of those easter eggs is in the description for Mackay's Epic Single Malt, in the Bottles of Thedas quest. "This whisky is older than the Maker and smoother than elven baby-butt." In Baldur's Gate, the innkeepers like to say their "inn is as clean as an elven arse."

I think the exceptionally fun lore tends to come from the strangest places. For example the kingdoms of amalur and dragon age crossover armours for mass effect because they both elude to the Earth Urban Combat Championship which pits top of the line combatants and equipment against eachother with a fantasy-style theme to each team who share their region with the developers of either game.

The World of Thedas volume 2 book includes recipes- some jokes, some actually great. One is a recipe for making dandelion wine. Another is a recipe for a banana bread that is sweetened with molasses- that recipe is specifically what I've been using for banana bread ever since the book came out, its that good. FINALLY!!! My all-time favorite game series!!! Also, the dragon age series had soooooo much more to it beside the romances, like trying to slay at least 10 high dragons and sobbing while trying to do so. But in all seriousness, the worldbuilding is absolutely amazing throughout the series and the little tidbits of lore that hide in the codex entries are *chef's kiss*. Does that mean I'm going to stop fantasizing about 2 himbo chantry boys with enough emotional damage to strangle a dragon? Hell no. Does that mean I'll ever stop siding with mages over templars? Also no. Now excuse me while I go get drunk because I swear by Varric's chest hair that I will do my next playthrough utterly TRASHED.

Dragon Age isn't just a romance game though :( yeah it is romance heavy, but the world building is incredible. I've spent two hundred hours on my nightmare playthrough, I spend a ridiculous amount of time tweaking armor and weapons and spells, I have one of the most incredible teams built up. If you ever want to try it to the original Savoy spec though try it using just 15ml of your yellow chartreuse and garnish with an orange peel. And make sure to honour the legendary Craddock and enjoy it "quickly, while it's still laughing at you!" Great stuff as always HTD

4:20 there 100% for sure are commercially available "golden" raspberries that would fit the color profile your describing perfectly, but youd need to make a more appropriately colored stand in for the grenadine. theyre just yellow raspberries, but some people swear they taste a little like pineapple.

What about the vigors and tonics from Bioshock Infinite? You're going to have to be 100% experimental on those but the themes of each power could be fun to explore in mixed drink form. I wasn't a fan of the third game overall but that won't stop me from suggesting it here.

The breakdown around the dowager drink had me in stitches. Your analysis was spot on lol. Also! not to be "That guy" but golden razzberries do exist! I'm not sure if you can get them commercially, but I know my girlfriend's grandma always makes a mixed berry pie with golden razzberries in it. They grow them in their garden, so again, not sure how available they would be, but just figured I would throw it out there. Love the video!

Somebody else said in the comments that red is actually appropriate. Apparently, a way that gold purity was tested in medieval times was to heat it, and if it turned a red color that was how you knew it was pure. Or something, I’unno. Pretty neat.

I feel like you include just the right amount of uncensored swearing to not need to censor yourself. You use them JUST enough for them to serve their point as a way to punch up and emphasize your point. Honestly just adds to how genuine your channel has always felt. You're not trying to tailor it to appeal to everyone, the appeal just comes naturally because it's fun and sincere.
