Unboxing and initial test of a 6-bladed 17" USB mini ceiling fan, with a remote! I didn't expect much from it, but I was pleasantly surprised after this video. Maybe it'll become a daily runner in the workshop in the near future. Thanks for watching!

This design looks really clean! I also like how it comes with a remote too, which is pretty cool. This is a lot better than that previous mini ceiling fan you’ve bought before imo. I also am surprised how quiet it is, the other mini ceiling fans I’ve seen on KZfaq are quite noisy.

Agreed! I like it enough that I hung it in my fan workshop a couple days ago. Definitely much better than the previous fan lol. Yeah I find that these mini ceiling fans that run on DC (USB, or usually 12 & 24V) are much quieter than ones that run on AC. The 50 or 60 Hz hum usually makes AC mini ceiling fans quite noisy.

Interestingly enough, I personally saw an actual 8 blade variant of this fan last week! I didn’t test it since the shop owner was a bit rude, but it was definitely an eye opener haha

Cool! Just noticed the typing mistake in my description, I think you picked up on that lol. It makes me wonder how far some manufacturers will go with blade count. It’d be wild if we ever come across one of these little ceiling fans with say, 15 blades haha! Sounds like the shop owner lost their chance to potentially make a sale lol.

I have a Boshje clip fan that’s basically a 16” mini ceiling fan on a clip. However it’s got a one-speed synchronous motor that runs directly off of the mains. Cool to see these with multiple speeds nowadays, since the only thing I hated about these types of fans was the lack of speed control
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan Жыл бұрын
Very cool! I think I’ve seen a few videos on fans like that. It seems like the majority of mini ceiling fans that run off the mains come in either 110V or 220V, so I’ve been leery about buying one since it’s 120V here in Canada. I also thought the speed control was a nice touch, especially since it’s a detachable, in-line module.

Glad to see you got this one and it’s well balanced no shaking at all it’s interesting how China can make this fan well balanced but can’t do that for portable desk fans and floor fans and All other fans like box fans just saying lol I enjoyed the video bro

Thanks Lemont! I definitely agree. I guess it’s either the luck of the draw, or just choosing a more reputable brand to get fans that don’t shake. But I mean, some USA-made fans like to dance too lol. *cough* Lasko & Air King *cough*

Indeed! I typically don’t end up using remotes on fans that come with them, but this one will probably be an exception. Considering it’ll be hanging from the ceiling, I think the remote will be really useful.

Will that work with a 12 volt supply. I am looking for something to run off of battery.
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 5 ай бұрын
This particular fan won’t work directly off a 12V battery. But I’ve seen a few mini ceiling fans on eBay and AliExpress that will work on 12V batteries. A search for “12V mini ceiling fans” should bring up some results. Hope it helps.

Hi there, what do you use to hang the ceiling fan to your ceiling?
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 11 ай бұрын
Hi! Assuming you're referring to hanging mini ceiling fans, not full size, hardwired ceiling fans, a simple hook screw works great. Just make sure the hook screw is installed securely, because the torque of the fan starting up can unscrew it if not fastened tightly. This works best if you screw into a wooden joist. Going into drywall, even with anchors, is not secure enough. Another option is a ceiling plant hanger that has a hook attached to a little plate with at least 2 mounting holes. This should prevent the unscrewing problem.

Hi, if you remove the extension which has the remote, then plug it directly into the power brick, will it still come on? Which speed will it run it? Could you please try and let me know. Thank you😊

Hi, yes the fan will run without the remote portion. It’ll just run at full speed when plugged in directly to a USB power source.

Can you use this ceiling fan without it being plugged in
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 4 ай бұрын
It doesn’t have a built in battery, so it does need to be plugged in. But if you have a portable power bank, you can run it without plugging it into the wall with an adapter.

Are the blades removable?
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan Жыл бұрын
Yep, they can be removed. But the problem is, repeatedly installing and removing them wears out the little bump on each blade that locks into the slots in the motor. To mitigate this, I loosen the screws on the upper side of the motor to open up the gap of the slots, and the blades slide out with little force and no wear.
