WARNING!! This list may only apply to the US versions of these cameras. Almost all EU versions of these cameras will have record limits of 30 minuets. (I listened to a list similar to this and bought 4 different cameras because I was told they didn't have record limits, only to find out that only applies to the US versions. I now have to try and sell all of them)

You know what I find sad? I routinely record 7 hour stretches (I do really long timelapses without losing any information/frames I can use in post...) with a Cellphone, open camera, and a usb wall wart. And then I find, when looking for something with a bit more quality, that much higher end, purpose made hardware all fails to do the same thing without workarounds. I have a hard time finding anything reasonable that can match a PHONE.
@CamberFilmSchool
@CamberFilmSchool 11 ай бұрын
Well, you have to consider that all these cameras are made to be PHOTOGRAPHY tools with SOME video features. Most new cameras now don’t have the limits anymore. But that was the original thinking of the companies because they didn’t want to put all the video features into them and keep people from buying from their actual video camera lineup.

@@CamberFilmSchool Because I got really tired of trying to scour the internet for spec sheets etc... Think you could mention some things (photography or video cameras) that I can hook up to a wall, record without overheating or running out of bits (splitting files is fine) all day, get better quality than the phone, all within a reasonable budget? My use case is so specific because I record when my hands are covered in epoxy, etc... I don't have time or the ability to babysit a camera.

I shoot 1hr lecture series and currently I am using a Sony G7X Mark2. I have to leave my desk and start the record after 25 minutes and I do this twice. It upsets my recordings but the only reason I use this camera is because of its good light sensor (lighting inside house is not the best). I need a camera with the same sensor or better that will record for an hour or more. What do you recommend ? My budget is around 1k and I need fancy stuff, it’s just for shooting headshot lectures using a green screen for background.

I would also like to do more in person stuff such as vlogging or filming skits. I’m capping my podcasts at 30 minutes to an hour, while my other content creation and vlogging can go up to 3-4 hours. This was so good. for the longest time i used up to 4 sony cx405's (camcorders) to get around the recording limits. But overall i was never a fan of the video quality. The best quality file from those cameras requires them to be split into smaller files...i believe they call it fat32 files. its time consuming to join these files and its actually very difficult to join files from different camera angle then try to synchronize them for multi cab views. Then i saw how affordable the sony zv 1f was. so i bought that little sony zv1f and its 1080p 30fps image quality is incredible. i put it in high heat mode, in 1080p i open up the flip our and screen and it performs like a champ. The video is literally beautiful and guess what....in that resolution it doesn't even file split. i almost fell outta my chair i was so shocked and happy. I now desire to buy one of each of these sony cameras in the ZV family. My long question is.(sorry btw) will the ZV1 and the ZV e10 work exactly like the ZV 1f if i put them in the same shooting mode. if so i can purchase the other two and have a great 3 angel podcast set up (with no file splitting) that also allows me to have 3 awesome cameras that each shine in other areas too. Am i making sense? ahh crap..i guess that's technically two questions.
@CamberFilmSchool
@CamberFilmSchool Жыл бұрын
Yea, you can match the same picture settings and all those cameras will look pretty similar. But it’s not necessarily the camera that’s splitting the files, it’s the SD card. If you use an SDHC card, it’s gonna split the files because of the filing system. SDXC cards don’t have that issue (although some older cameras still split the files because there’s a 4GB limit on them).

Unfortunately a lot of the answers are “it depends.” For the lens, what is your definition of affordable? I need to know your budget. And the size of the SD card depends on what resolution do you plan to shoot. FHD or 4K? And I don’t know about battery lift, but if I plan to shoot anything over an hour, I’d get a dummy battery that plugs into an electrical outlet. As far as the mic, I wouldn’t use the onboard mic on any DSLR camera as my audio source. You’ll want to get a shotgun mic to go on top or get a lav mic to attach to yourself.

Hello, first of all thank you for this video! I have a couple of questions as I’m struggling to make the type of videos that I want to, with my current equipment. I want to create movie reaction videos (so this means that I’m gonna need the camera to shoot for hours without automatically turning off) and I have also purchased a good USB mic which I plug into the camera (while it’s simultaneously connected to my laptop through the USB port to get power) My current camera is a DSLR Canon EOS 750D. The thing is that it obviously has that limitation, it records up to 29:59 minutes AND it has a hiss sound that I cant do anything about it. So, imagine, when I connect the mic to the camera the hiss gets worse. 🔎 So what I’m looking for is a camera 1. With no limitation as for recording 2. That does not hiss (at all-I want the sound to be crystal clear) 3. With a audio jack so that I can plug my mic to it directly so that I wont have to sync anything. Is the last camera that you suggested capable to offer me all of the 3 requirements that I have? Thank you so much for reading this 🙏

I’d say you’d probably be better off using the Logitech because you can get a good camera under $1,000, but that’s just the body. You’ll still need to spend more on a quality lens and microphone to go along with it.

Your wrong, the lumix fz2500 does have a mic port. I own this camera and it definitely has a mic port. It also has a headphone Jack, also your wrong about the canons, they all record to the 30min limit. It will split the files to 4 gb files if you us a cheaper card. If you use a better card it doesn’t split the file up, but regardless of if it splits the files or not it doesn’t stop recording until it reaches the thirty minute limit. The cards you want to use so the file won’t be split up to 4gb files and records one continuous clip is theSDXC cards as they save the files as exfat were as the SD/SDHC cards format the files in fat32.

Good to know about the FX2500. When I researched the camera I couldn’t find anywhere that said it had one. And I know you can record up to 30 minutes on Canon cameras. I’m pretty sure that’s the point I made-that canon still puts the 30 min limit on all their cameras.
@wadesweeney2200
@wadesweeney2200 2 жыл бұрын
@@CamberFilmSchool yeah fz2500 has a lot of video centric stuff in it that would suprise most people. On the canon I thought you were also saying that if it hit the 4gb limit it would stop recording which if so is not true, it just will split the 30 min recording into 4gb files. But, only if you use the sd/sdhc cards. If using the sdxc cards then it will be one continuous file all the way up to the thirty minute limit. I just listed to the beginning of your video again, and you do say that when it hits the 4gb limit in 10-12 minutes will shut off which isnot true. Now that 30 minute thing I am with you on that get rid of that limit it’s stupid and it’s time to go.
@CamberFilmSchool
@CamberFilmSchool 2 жыл бұрын
Yea, I usually don’t go into the details of the 4GB thing because the majority of people want to get the cheapest cards they can (like the 32GB SDHC) because they don’t want to spend the extra $6-7 on an SDXC. I have a video that goes into depth explaining why people hit that 10-12 minute limit due to the filing systems on various cards.
@wadesweeney2200
@wadesweeney2200 2 жыл бұрын
@@CamberFilmSchool oh ok, yeah I don’t think those type of cards are expensive at all so not sure price would play into that as most want to get the best performance for their money as right now you can get the sanddisk extreme pro 32g for 17.99sdxc and the Sandisk extreme plus which is a sdhc is going for 22.99x They tend to run better deals on the better spec cards. Anyways I have commented enough, got to let others in lol, have a good one.

😂 yea you’d be surprised how many people actually care more about getting the cheapest thing they can find. Then they realize it’s not good enough and end up buying the one they needed on the first place and end up spending more money overall. I get comments ALL the time of people saying things I recommend are too expensive when it’s the cheapest quality gear I can find.

I know of a better video camera than all of those and theyre going for 60.00 presently. THe Kodak Z16 that takes two AA batteries you can record up to one hour or longer if the batteries dont drain out and it doesnt get hot, plus when you transfer videos onto your PC there is no down load time at all. Explain that?? And why is a video of my Harley fatboy with my Z16 at 21 minutes length only 189 MB, when with my Kodak FZ55 HD its like 11 GB and requires download tome of 30 minutes? The Z16 also has supierior audio and is more clear. How can anyone explain this? But this is REAL people, and I know a handfull of other people with cannon and Kodak and other brands that all shut off between 8 and 30 minutes and get hot and still require this PC downlad time of all these gigabytes. This reality os absolute proof that authorities are messing with us and memory SD cards are scamming, and the Z16 has only an 8 g card and holds thirty videos . I am not making this up people
