I'm currently playing am alchemist artificer vampire, he travels the world as a plague doctor healing the sick with medieval medicine such as blood letting. This is how he gets the blood he needs to survive while he looks for a way to end his bloodthirst.

My friend did an Artificer named Harvester. He was created by a wizard that owned a farm. About a year before the campaign started his creator left with the horse and cart and the dog and never came back. Eventually he wandered from the farm in search of his creator... randomly asking people if they had seen him. He is basically a ball with robot arms and legs and spikes out the top... with an old tarp draped over him. His head is a pumpkin and his eyes light up. In his back is a large key. If you wind it up he plays loud polka music that he can not shut off until it winds down.

The alchemist artificer looks like V1 from Ultrakill got kicked into the forgotten realms and just decided to adapt to their new environment.

Mine was a Multiclass one but. A dwarf forge cleric nearing the end of his life after a lifetime of war and crafting making him loose his right arm and he comes to the realization that he doesn't want his last years on Earth wasted sitting in a shop forging all day so he decides to take his years of knowledge to forge a suit to replace his limbs and older weakened muscles that will help carry him forward till he hopefully passes in battle with his greatest creations and passes his knowledge down to a party of young adventurers to leave a legacy keeping his world safe. The class sheet was 17 forge cleric 3 artificer. If ya chat with ya DM the party would find ya at lvl 1 either getting drunk in a tavern looking for jobs or in the forge. He may have been a experienced soldier but he has to rebuild his experience after years of retirement. Overall was my favorite character

My favorite artificer that I’ve made is an Artillerist who basically got bored one day and decided to pick up a quest from his his hometown of Phandalin. I wrote a ton of lore for this guy, but to sum it up after the adventure he invented a dimension-hopping device he called the Dimensionalizer. He traveled the multiverse for 15 years before settling down in his own tavern pocket dimension. That is where he resides to this day, welcoming wayward adventures with some old friends and some commodities like food and drink.

In your still flesh arm, you find a locket that has a picture of you, a red-haired dwarf, and a girl who you can only assume is you and the dwarf's daughter. You don't remember anything, but you decide that it would be best to find the other 2 people in your locket.

You're an artificer who has an interest in biology, specifically prothesis and surgery. You try your hardest to improve the lives of common folk by improving and refining your craft, often experimenting on yourself after getting injured in combat. Slowly you become more warforged than flesh and blood.

A wheelchair bound dwarf with really big arms who throw Grenades. His back story somehow involves him losing his legs. I have not worked out the details yet

I once rolled a kenku artificer alchemist who was just an alcoholic trying to create an original brew, but the curse of being unable to create anything original depresses him, which leads to him drinking more. His name was Slosh. EDIT: forgot to mention the other aspect of his unoriginality kenku curse not really allowing him to think for himself. He was part of a brewer's guild apprenticed under a renowned brewer who was known for creating original brews in his region. His dying words were, "carry on my legacy." Slosh interpretted that as "continue to create original brews." Hence what kicked off my original unedited comment.

1 of my artificers is a kobold who was left homeless after his clan was wiped out by humans. he uses some of the items left in the Warren's to make a suit of armor he uses to protect life in general. To make sure this tragedy could never happen again.

Here are some of my favs I came up with: Battlesmith: Warren Ironhide is the last survivor of his tinker town after a mindflayer encited a civil war which forced him to use his whimsical trinket making skills on a steel defender. He was then given the monacre of "The Butcher of DeepBurrow" by the church who chases him in hopes he'll unseal the entrance to the now gravesight, as they believe it to be the resting spot of some holy relic. Alchemist: raised as a test subject within the simic conclave, you decided to join their ranks in hopes to use their bioengineering to benefit the world. Not sold on the alterations you endured, you found that alchemy might hold a key for your patients to maintain their humanity. Artilerist: Grook Royalson's hazodee orphaned by a plane shift and raised in a artisan village where he was eventually elected as courtier for the guild. One day at court, he received word that his home was on fire, but by the time he returned, it was too late. Focusing all his years of crafting and maddening depression into arcane infusions and contraptions, he found a way to regain his two kids and arm them just long enough so that he could share one last trip as they travel to bury his "wife's" ashes. Armourer: While most take their class to serve themselves, you didn't have that luxury. This was your profession of convenience, living your life as an adventurer's pack mule. Anything you made was to be to their benefit, and though you escaped that life, some habits die hard.

Flavored my tiefling Artificer as a kinda fiendish puppet master, but his puppet was his own evil inclination stuffed into the puppet and giving it life. Fashioned the Homunculus in it, then flavored the Artillerist Cannon to be him instead. He sounded like Pinocchio from Shrek and was VILE but alot of fun in rp.

Here is my character concept: You were born a tiefling because your parent made a bargain with Mephistopheles for knowledge. When this parent mysteriously disappeared, you were left with blueprints for arcane-mechanical structures. You’ve made the parts as the blueprint instructed (leading to whatever subclass you want). Now you want to find your parent to figure out why they made their bargain and the terms of the bargain.

my first charecter was jesser, the gnome battle smith. He was a genius inventor in a rich gnome city and had panted many inventions like the door bell and trap door bell. He left the city to confront the gnome king who sent his army which included jessers dad to their Graves against a mysterious army. Well long story short He became the team sugar daddy, invented guns, a robot badger, a giant titanfall esc mech and became a pot head. There was also this one time he slept with a hill giant but that's a story for another time.

Mimic knight(Battle Smith). In a village where the inhabitants live peacefully among mimics, you dawn a suit of armor made of mimics after a merciless dnd party raided your village.

Your character one day while wondering the forest found a small mechanical box, after touching it, a wealth of knowledge filled your head but your memories were taken away. The only way to get your memories back is to find the missing parts of this box, where then your story is told in a moving music box fashion. When frightened listening to the music the box makes soothes you and a voice of someone you once knew can be heard in the background of the music.

My old artificier character was a devoted servant of the gods, but his land was overtaken by a plague, after years of prayer he gave up on the gods because they didnt do anything to help with the plague. He learned alchemy instead, he found a cure for their plague but he was labeled a heretic and had his arms chopped off as punishment and imprisoned. I've got an idea for a Kobold Artificer. His clan was wiped out by adventurer's but he managed to escape. He managed to sneak into a nearby city and was taken in by a blacksmith who made him his apprentice. Years later, he's rather learned for a Kobold and now aspires to create a Clockwork Dragon; something that he can worship.

I made a Warforged Artillerist that was the result of a Drawven Artificer trying to make a new type of Warforged that you could put a living soul into (a way to prolong life, etc.). But when the Artificer successfully built the Warforged body, it called on a soul from another dimension and in a burst of energy it also consumed the soul and memories of the Artificer and combined them with the soul of an old western gunslinger. This gunslinger now lived in a functional immortal body and had the memories and knowledge from his life as a gunslinger and the life of the Artificer. With this combined knowledge, he continued on as a bounty hunter, becoming an Artillerist to create new guns (I use the eldritch cannon as a handheld "handcannon"/extra firearm).

Mine used kibblies alternate articifer. He is an armorsmith articifer who lost his arm permanently because of a reaper weapon in an attack that killed his entire unit. He now has a prosthetic arm that hacks golems and hunts after the one who killed his unit and cut off his arm. Now he has a a large sized mech suit with a ship grade railgun strapped to the shoulder.

A warforged bent on discovering who his original creator was is forced to become an artificer to keep himself functional. He is terrified of the idea of death and, as such, created multiple warforged suits for his conscience to go into if he were to ever die or to switch over to if a different suit is more efficient or useful in the situation.

i’m playing a Living doll (Wechselkind) that was found and adopted by space clowns, where he learned the craft of making magical alchemical candies, and once old enough, decided to leave the circus to find his creator and learn the purpose for making him.

Im using Articifer for the first time, and I think I have an interesting setup. I play as a Shifter race Articifer, I specialize in using rifles and a yklwa (a one-handed spear). I use the eldritch cannon and my story is that I'm apart of a secret organization of hunters that hunts evil beings with any method.

I currently have an Artificer in a campaign. Level 5 Armourer, Guardian armour model. She's sort of a combo between Vi and Tony Stark Jr: a somewhat hot-headed brawler, but at the same time, a smart and intelligent inventor. She's the only surviving member of her noble house after a terrorist attack killed her parents and burnt down the family's original workshop. After rebuilding the workshop, it was found that she is the heir of the family business and is only now coming to terms with her new found responsibilities after earning contracts with the Empire to build weapons and machines to defend its territory. Add on top of this, she is now juggling responsibilities of an adventuring party that are currently out trying to stop dragons from re-taking the world and turning everyone back into their slaves.

I had this idea where my Alchemist or Artillerist was once the son of a small noble family and a student at a college who came back from his studies to find his family being robbed by a group of bandits. It turned out his brother owed a large debt to them and the gang was in the middle of collecting it. While trying to save his family he was pinned down and forced to watch the die while they tried to break free. He spirals into a fit of rage and used one of his experiments to cause and explosion and set the house on fire which left his home destroyed and was traumatized by the event which made him go mad. It sounds kinda basic, but I feel it’s a good starting point

A magical-engineering student from the university of Tinkertown who joined a party of adventurers to perform an experiment about the impact of healing potions derived from bananas to the survivability of adventurers and/or travelers. What was supposed to be just a project needed for graduating the university turned out to be a wacky adventure.

I have an idea for an artificer character. Vern- a human artificer who has just graduated from university decides to start a part time career in adventuring to quickly amass wealth to pay off his student debt and buy a sizeable workshop and materials, study technology from every region of the world and try to become immortal by using mechanical implants (eg, when he gains strength points for his stats, he replaces limbs, organs, etc with machines in game as an explanation to why he's suddenly stronger). Being a budget tech priest from the warhammer 40k universe, he'd be a curious, inquisitive and logical person. Personally, if the DM allows it, I'd solidify his aspiration to create and invent by giving him multi-purpose tools and weapons, like a halberd that's also an oversized wrench, a mace that can be transformed into a screwdriver, etc.

I just finished making a plasmoid artificer artillerist that was the result of simic expiraments. Though he was not the strong super soldier the researcher had intended to create by working with oozes, he was smart enough and curious enough to do small things arround the lab and eventually joined in on their research. However, due to the impending discovery of the secret, and most certainly illegal, research, the members of the research facility all went in their own directions. Now left alone, the plasmoid ooze prototype: ID-0, now wanders the countryside in a lab coat, mask, and gloves, sating any curiosity that catches his fancy with the goal of becoming the ultimate weapon he was made to be.

I got 2. Second one check by your Dm before attempting this cause it’s not exactly raw 1. A small race chef alchemist who has a long sword reflavored as a comedically long knife. 2. A thri keen armorer with sunblades in every hand, aka GENERAL GRIEVOUS!

I got one a snakeoil salesman alchemist who both sells real potions and fake ones, one day he sells the wrong potion to the wrong group of people and now their out for blood so you join the nearest adventuring party to get out of town quirk.

A former criminal has gone into hiding after the criminal organization burned and betrayed him. As an Armorer, he uses his abilities (Cure Wounds, Disguise Self, etc.) to pretend he is a galant and somewhat dim Paladin, which his old crew would never suspect him of being. I liked the idea that the noble mask he projects gradually becomes real as he does good things.

This one is a battle smith, but he could work as a artillerist: Low ranking noble start making trinkets to gain favor with the higher ranking people of the court. Them some rival nobles that losed favor after insulting the character in front of someone they gifted schemed to exile the character. Using their knowledge in mechanics the character became a adventurer in hopes that, proving himself a hero, they could get back at the court good graces.

My current artificer/wizard multi class in my campaign: Update Processing Golem - Retrofit Arcane Design enhancements (Or U.P.G.R.A.D.E.) is a warforge golem from a long forgotten war. He was a armorer who rarely saw combat and was focused on arcane studies and how to use those to improve his unit and keep them functioning. The only time he saw combat he was destroyed and left inactive for 100s of years. His more enigmatic half is a necromancy Wizard named Vshayyn DurGul was a discredited academic who was cast it of a college you wouldn’t know for his less than humane studies. He mechanically spliced together humans and magical tech. You wouldn’t know the college though, he phase shifted it into Dagons Sea long ago. Anyway Vshayyn in an attempt to gain immortality transfers his consciousness into upgrade and powers the broken machine with his soul. Upgrade wakes up hundreds of years later and tries to find his place in the world. Anyone he deemed especially kind or helpful he adds to his “Unit” and protects and makes useful tools and armor for. But anytime he gets in a stressful situation or it just benefits the tone of the plot I have to roll a D4. Evens I stay as the friendly upgrade… Odds well Vshayyn makes his appearance until another situation shows up where I can roll again. It’s a very interesting Jekyll and Hyde scenario where upgrade is entirely unaware of the other personality and thinks his memory banks are failing. Upgrade just thinks he is forgetting days and fights he wins because of his aged frame.

Your first artillery but as an armorer. Basically imagine a power armor, but it is powered by leafs and plants on the armor as a solar panel (like bastion from overwatch. Imagine a sort of ecosystem on the power armor that only requires some sun and some water). That's because plants are more energy efficient than solar panels, so this guy studying plants and nature, decided to take inspiration and nature's strenght to make his and others' life better. For the rest of the lore, I have nothing in mind. I'm only sure I don't really want to make his personality "I would die to protect nature", unless you can make it a very well and cool lore. Suggestions are welcomed.

I have a Battle smith who is a mechanical beast master. So I have three mechanical beasts that I control using telepathy. I stay in the back and provide support while my mechanical monsters attack.

Not really focused on his class but my favorite character I’ve ran with was a yuan ti artificer who was the former quartermaster of a pirates crew and wanted to start wearing big ass robot suits to plunder an entire evil yuan ti kingdom which he fled from with the captain as children. At the end of the campaign he gave up on piracy and lived out his days smiting the wicked and tyrannical.
