With road bikes your options may be limited when it comes to improving comfort. Mountain and some hybrid bikes tend to have a longer length of exposed seatpost due to a shorter seat tube. There is more room to fit a rear light onto a suspension seatpost if you want one. Unless you are doing competitive road racing , a gravel bike is probably better than a road bike as a compromise between speed and comfort. It's always good on any bike if the frame has eyelets for mudguards , extra water bottles and racks ( you don't have to use them ). With mountain / hybrid bikes you have to consider that any suspension components will need regular servicing, typically every 50 to 200 hours of ride time, depending on environmental conditions. There will be extra costs in terms of parts and labour, unless you have the tools and time to service them yourself. Folding bikes as shown at 2:17 can be used for long rides , e.g. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q82pkrZ-3rean2Q.html . However, small wheels do not travel over potholes as well as larger ones. Also a long rear derailleur is quite close to the ground and has an increased risk of being bent / damaged if struck by rocks etc. I would like more component interchangeability between electric bike manufacturers before I consider one. For mid drive models, many of the bike frames are made to fit specific motors and the controllers, display units and batteries can be proprietary. If you have the skills and time, it's probably better to fit a kit to a standard human powered bike ?
