Kinda feels racist tho... For starters filipinos are nothing like mexicans at all and whoever thinks that they are are probably those filipinos who grew up in the US and has no recollection of what actual local filipinos are actually like and to think that their accents are nothing alike since mexicans have a more spanish tone and if you say filipinos speak spanish cuz no they don't in zamboanga its a spanish creole and its not even the same some words being used casually are either just borrowed words from spanish or just another way of saying it like some english words used to replace some tagalog words that are too long or too complicated to say Like let's say uno, dos, tres is spanish But in tagalog its Isa, dalawa, tatlo And in English its one, two, three Tagalog has its own meaning and translaion besides for some Spanish words being used sometimes Also, there's only 1% of filipinos who have Spanish Blood and the only reason why they changed their last names to Spanish was when it was ruled by Spain and everyone was obliged to change their first and last names to Spanish and whoever had a non-Spanish name will be executed

Why are people in the comments so salty? I was born in Mindanao but raised here in Canada. I can’t speak Tagalog or Bisaya, but I still understand them. My mom’s family is from Quezon City and my dad’s is from Mindanao. Even in the Philippines, my parents spoke Taglish to me and my siblings, but spoke Bisaya to each other. My siblings and I spoke Taglish to each other. When I moved to Canada, it was obviously a culture shock. As a kid, you didn’t wanna stand out so you try to assimilate. So over the years my siblings and I just spoke full English to each other. My parents spoke less Tagalog to us, just some sprinkled words and phrases. But we would reply in English. They still speak Bisaya to each other though. Growing up, I definitely wasn’t proud to be Filipino. I just wanted to fit in. But now, I’m definitely proud to be Filipino even if I can’t speak the language. That was long but whatever. I don’t get the hate in the comments.

Maybe the culture is different in australia but my filipino coworkers cannot really relate to filo that grow up not speaking the language. And honestly i think the hate comes from the people in the video not bothering to keep learning. Like what a spit in the face to your ancestors that passed down those languages through spanish inquisition, just to let it disappear because you want to assimilate. Especially for yourself you should consider learning especially bisaya as a minority local language. I myself speak sundanese and hokkien on top of indonesian. And through those languages i can resonate with the culture. I feel if you just experience filipino culture through an english lens it is an empty shell
