@@scup___scup586 watermark is a kind of identity of you or your business. Arrange the watermark in the way, that no one can remove it from the the design or whatever 😉. I hope this will help you

I think the hardest thing about business cards is, that you need to remember that it'snot a flyer and not an ad, but still needs to represent you just like them. But it's probably one of the best areas to practice good design for starters, since it forces them to get a lot of detail into a minimalist design on a small space. Being limited is often the best way to figure out solutions.

@@SatoriGraphics The weird thing about business cards is, you see a new design that is just genius and you know instantly. I've seen one, where a designer wrote her email-address on white background, using brackets on top and below to show which part is her Domain, her name, her email, her hashtag on instagram/twitter, etc... All within one email-address on white background. To this day, one of the smartest designs I've seen, despite that it can be done in illustrator in probably 1-2 minutes. But I have no idea, how much thinking preceded the design going to print.

Business card with anything on the back (except Latin alphabet version for Greek or Cyrillic business cards) is more of an advertising leaflet. If you receive a business card the more personal and clean it is, the more valuable it appears. Logo or anything printed on the back makes it generic company card with impersonal phone number and office e-mail address. Something that can be put on the reception desk for anyone to take freely rather then valuable contact you would care for. Graphically it seem a great idea but if you want to be taken seriously leave the back blank.

I have a question about the bleeds. I have no printing experience and I have mostly worked for online designs. The bleed that you told about, you said that my artwork should go over the bleed. So am I supposed to make something like a 1 point line or do I just need to tell the printer about it? Additionally, can you make a video on online portfolios and the best sites/methods to make those? Many people use Instagram to display their work too, which methods are the best and most accepted? and how to make it look professional? Thanks a lot in advance.

Bleed: This is the area around the outside of the card that allows for cut margins. If you are working in Photoshop, simply add 3mm to each SIDE of your card and design WITHIN that area. If you have a design (ie: background0 that you wish to show to the extreme of the finished card, simply ensure that the design runs to the OUTERMOST edges of your card (over the bleed lines. You can then guarantee that the cut will be "through" it and your finished cards will have a design that runs over the edges in question...hope this helps a year down the line!

I often find the contact details on business card’s to be too small to easily read, and if it’s not comfortable or a pleasant to use it’s either way thrown away or creates a poor second impression.

test print, test different sizes on a single design and print it just once to see how legible it is.

I saw many designer use photoshop to design professional business card! my question : Is it safe to use photoshop to design/create business card? Can i send that business card to my client? or I should use illustrator. I'm so confused. I know photoshop better than illustrator and it feel easier to me.

It is a minefield out there..! I see you have not received any replies so: 1) YES, design in Photoshop 2) Work in PDF format 3) Save as PDF & jpg. (send a .jpg to your client to view) 4) REMEMBER to FLATTEN your finished design & SAVE in CMYK format 5) ALWAYS all 3mm bleed around ALL your finished files to go to print 6) FREE TIP! When you are using your colour pallette, you will see a small square top right...if an "!" appears in this square when you have chosen your colour, it means that the colour will not be compatable in CMYK format. To resolve this problem (and remove the "!" simply click on the nearest favourable shade you require, and the "!" will disappear. I hope these points are helpful...Good creative designing! Phil

If you want to get the color codes you could take a screenshot and use the eyedroper tool in your image editing software (Photoshop, Krita, Ms paint) to get the color codes

DPI is a physical property of a printer, not the digital image. When talking about print size, PPI refers to the number of image pixels from the digital file that will be used to create one inch on the printed medium. The math is quite simple to determine the size of the print that can be made from a digital file. Take the pixel dimensions of your image and divide those values by the resolution (PPI value). For example, if I print one of the 6,000 × 4,000 pixel image files from my X-T2 at 200 PPI, the photograph would be 6,000/200 = 30″ long and 4,000/200 = 20″ high.

PPI is a term that describes the resolution of a digital image and determines its size when printed. To adjust the print dimensions for a digital image, modify its PPI (without resampling). Doing this does not affect the pixel count of the image. And remember, the PPI of an image does not influence how it will display on a device screen. DPI is a function of a printer. It describes how tightly little dots of ink sprayed on the paper are placed to create a photograph. DPI is not used (at least it shouldn’t be used) to describe any aspect of a digital file.

The purpose of a bleed is to allow your printer a little leeway in SCREWING UP cutting your cards. I would NEVER give 5mm, especially on such a small piece. Imagine how bad your layout could look if it is shifted 5mm in even just one direction. If your printer can’t cut within 3mm, find a better printer!

for the most part they are. The idea isn't the design but the rules. I don't have time to sit down and make 6 different business card designs for a single video, when I make 3 videos per week, work on graphic design projects as a designer, run a KZfaq channel and work on other side projects
