I took a ride on a Russian train that offered a full business class onboard, from Moscow to a small town in the countryside.

@@denisfetisov2160 Several peepz did it already. They do NOT really stay on the train in its entire single journey but by stages. Usually, they ride the train for 1 to 2 days, then they alight at a major city along the way, stay the night at a hotel, then continue on their journey the next day.

Had a similar problem trying to find the platform for my Sapsan from Moscow to St Petersburgh, which turned out to be in the building next door! However, the trip was without fault. Booked my seat in the dinning car for the duration of the journey and was subjected to perfect service by friendly and courteous staff. Oh, bye the way, it absolutely flew!! Thanks for riding with PID. The next time you're around here, stop on by for a cup of tea and some good company please! That stomach complaint comment was cheeky. PS! Kostroma region was hit by the largest tornado in USSR's history in 1984. Look up the Ivanovo Tornado outbreak. Multiple F4's and one F5! I spent my childhood summer at a санаторий in the town of Lunevo right on the damage path on the banks of the river Volga. Turned me into the weather geek that I am now. I recall taking the overnight train there, which stopped at every lamp post. In platskart. Ah, the memories.

Lastochka is not a great train although it can be considered luxurious by Russian standards. Lastochka is a kind of Ice train or S-bahn in Germany. It is not a very fast train. Normally about 100-120 km/h. But its a very good Siemens designed train.Express train here means that it does not do many stops over the way - just part of them. So Lastochka its like a commuter between moscow (or other cities) and nearbour regional capitals
