MOONBIN LOVED BEING AN IDOL. HE LOVED WORKING IN FANTAGIO. he signed with them under the age of 10, and was the first one to renew his contract as an astro member. that was how loyal he was to the agency. he never had any scandal, was never unnecessarily hated by the public, was never bullied by fans/nonfans. he loved his job and always talked about it every chance he got. he even defended the agency from the fans' outrage. so no, he was never a product of kpop's toxicity. stop setting him as an example to the dark side of kpop when you don't even know him. Edit: moonbin is one of the oldest employees of fantagio being signed to it since under the age of 10. if he hated something, he would communicate it out loud and even on camera. he called out the agency for selling expensive merch. he got angry and fought the staff when in their early days, they were prohibited to eat before filming a music video (he and eunwoo wanted to eat chocolates so they talked to the staff and finally the whole group was allowed to eat and extreme dieting stopped). when he gave his lines to the rapline and cut down his parts in a song. when fantagio gave crazy, sexy, cool to him as a solo song, he talked to the president and convinced them to make it a group song (title track) instead. no matter how much he spoiled any song/group plans to the fans, he never got in trouble. that was how influential moonbin was in his agency.

I understand that she doesn't have any bad intentions but there's already so much that moonbin's family and his friends are going through that a video on your platform which has such a huge reach will help further spread misinformation. The cause of his passing away hasn't been confirmed as of yet and his family has again and again asked us all from making any assumptions about the same. The rumors have gotten so bad that his mother whose pain one can't even fathom reached out through a letter expressing how she wants people to stop talking about how her son passed away. I feel bad for Pablo being voted out because of the older group thing. Like older group stans are VALID, just because they don't like newer ones doesn't mean they aren't a kpop stan. It was not clear what Moonbin's cause of death was so plz refrain from suspicions, his own mom had to step in and stop rumors from spreading. He was admired and had a say in certain company rules because he was close with staff members. He was outspoken and very independent from what he's shown through his personality. He chose to renew his contract and wanted to continue working alongside his members.

I'm a 2013 kpop stan (BTS, EXO, Sistar, T-ara, 4Minutes, BAP, etc.) and I never use Twitter unless it's to download concept photos! I love their energy as newer fans but as a long-time fan, it's hard to keep up with the constant stream of releases and new groups, let alone listening to B-side tracks. The industry has changed so much, its crazy!

I feel bad for Pablo. I got into kpop in 2013 through SS501. Then came f(x), CN Blue. In 2017 got into BTS as my ult group. I do casually listen to G-Idle and NewJeans now but I'm not as invested in them as I was in BTS. For some of us, once we have an ult group I guess its not easy to invest that energy into something different

The one thing I'll always look down on when someone is critiquing the industry is them using someone's death as fodder for being against the whole genre. (Especially Monnbin's since nothing was ever confirmed). Also, like, I agree whole heartedly that the industry can be very harmful, but also literally every entertainment industry has incredibly deep flaws that often harm performers. K-pop isn't the only industry with issues, and lots of the critiques against it always have a hint of racism and xenophobia underneath them. And genuinely *hating* a genre/industry and hating on the people that like it is really immature.

Just watched round 2 and wow! I'm a "grandma" K-pop stan (been listening to K-pop for around 15 years). I don't have a twitter (I have an account, I just don't have the time nor the desire to be active there). I don't have time to get a closer look at groups who debuted recently bc I'm 26, I have a husband, a job and got my second Master's degree 2 months ago. I rarely buy merch because my money most of the time go for bills/food/travelling or I just save them for something big. And I really don't get all of these criteria. From the video it looks like if you don't have an account in Twitter, if you don't buy merch or if you're quieter, then you're not a K-pop stan. And this is quite superficial if you ask me. People, K-pop is a music genre, not a cult
