Because fit is so important for skates, instead of reviewing a skate I would like to just share my experience with the Hyp2rlite skate instead.

Watched your Mach video, im a 43 year old goalie who wanted out skates to skate with my son's. Came from an old pair of Bauer 4000 that were 1 size too big and they ribbed my heal raw to the point of bleeding. Went to pure hockey, tried the M5's fit 3, and they felt ok made the mistake of trying the Mach's and they fit perfectly and felt great before baking. I ended up leaving with the Mach's and couldn't be happier! Now I need to upgrade my goalie skates. Have old 2nd tier ones in a tiny D need some fit 3's for my really wide feet.

Great review! That stinks you have the foot pain! I had quite the opposite experience with these skates. Got them a few months ago, been loving them from the first skate. The comfort, the stiffness and stability has been the best I’ve ever skated in. Can’t recommend these enough if someone wants a top of the line vapor. From how you describe your game, have you ever tried the Bauer Supreme 2s Pro skates? I’m with you on the injected eyelets, I think they are the best and far superior in terms of response of the boot; the 2s Pro’s are supremes that have injected eyelets, might support your game? Traditional eyelets in my opinion have a better foot wrap and flex more, giving one more range of motion and comfort, vs the stiffness and more response in an injected eyelet. Love the content keep it coming man

Nice review as usual! I was wondering if you were gonna release a vid on these skates! You know me, I’ve owned almost all of the major brands and models on both custom and retail. My experience has always been that Bauer skates the best, but CCM is the most comfortable and is most likely to get a custom pair correct on the first try. Also, I’m pretty confident that I’m in the small minority of players who gets the most use out of Supertacks. lol. I’d really give the FT6 pros a try in an 8 regular for you if you’re a 7.5 fit 3 in the Hype2s. I still think True skates are comfy junk at this point after owning two custom pairs. Think about their sticks.

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviewsI've had my pair of custom Trues for going on 5 years now. Only issues I've had is having to rivet the tendon guard back on a couple times on each skate. Aside from that, they're great. I can skate with zero pain now, whereas I was in a lot of pain in all the retail skates I tried. People say they look cheap, but it's because there's no graphics over any of the boot, so you see all exposed carbon and you'll see glue where the sections meet. I don't see how that's an issue. I've skated 4-6 times a week the entire time I've had them, and they're still in good shape. I always take off the soakers and pull out the insoles after every skate to help them air out, so that probably helps. They're worth trying for sure.

I used the CCM AS3 Pro for approx 3 years and absolutely wore the s.. out of those skates. Switched to the FT6 Pro (a size smaller, regular fit instead of wide) and it’s overall been a great experience. Weight wise it was the same; boot is bit lighter but the black steel is definitely adding up. Aside from the great boot comfort, beware that the step steel is much higher and comes with a 10,5 feet radius which yields a much flatter skating surface compared to previous steel around 9-9,5 feet radius. I am told I’m an experienced skater and after two months I’m still adapting, and while the flatness to provide great support and much better glide and is just awesome for backwards (ie. for defensemen), it takes more energy in turns and you need to beware of this fact. I’ve got a second set of black steel that I’m going to sacrifice for testing profiles; could just profile according to the old steel but it’s evident that the flatter profile comes with benefits as well so it’s adaptation, but one that initially was quite frustrating. I had to bake the skates twice to make the right skate fit better with respect to the inside of the right foot (ie. just above the arch). A wide model might have been the better approach but overall the skates are extremely snug and very comfortable for 5 or 6 hours on ice in a session. Had I been given the option, I would have taken a second set of AS3 Pro but they’re u fortunate unavailable.
@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviewsperhaps I should rephrase the last part as the FT6 Pros are definitely the comfier skate, but I felt the fit of the AS3 Pro was better (perhaps as a result of the extreme wear and ultimately quite soft carbon shell). I have had the last two iterations of the Supremes, as well, and I wouldn't undo an eyelet there, either. Officially ditched these skates two weeks ago and went back to original Hyperlites. The powerfly is WAY to stiff, they have to much padding that’s making me loose connectivity to the boot, and to top it all off they replaced the functional rubber piece in the back I generally relied on for feedback with a thin cheap piece of plastic that doesn’t give any rebound or feedback so that they could save on costs. Hyperlite 1’s are lighter, give better feel & feedback due to less padding, and aren’t to stiff everywhere like the 2’s. The only thing that kinda sucks about the 1’s is obviously the tongue situation but for me it’s manageable and worth all the other corks you get in exchange. Im officially on the hunt for every OG hyperlight in my size. It still stands as the best skate for me unless my True Customs are accounted for then that’s another discussion…

Words from my own brother and some teammate who are in true custom and true retail skate: they said comfy but the rest is negative, fast wearing and tearing appart, the blade snap in half. They are all re thinking their decision and planning to go back to CCM and Bauer!

I am lucky to have bought vapors that fit and skate well. I think sometimes there is this obsession from players to buy skates that are as small and as tight as possible because they have been told that's what will give them the best skating performance which is incorrect.

I’ve never been a fan of small and tight causss to many issues. I used to run a reg width skate with nothing but issues because I was told too. I switched to an ee a few years ago and was night and day. Fit is everything not what someone else tells you that’s for sure

I find games are more like “in moment” and drills are like thinking to much. As well this was all filmed during my recent health issues and I was not doing well physically for awhile there. But appreciate the honesty lol
