@ian gentry you should look into HIT training by Dorian Yates and Mike mentzer, the only way to build mass amounts of muscle is to exert 100% of muscular effort, that’s what ignites the muscle building switch in the body. I’m still learning about it, but it’s the only SCIENTIFIC approach to bodybuilding/ weightlifting. Most people in the gym are doing aerobic workouts when they should be training anaerobic to maximize muscle and strength gains. This guy is a beast tho, what a great progress, you can do it too, just train like Dorian Yates and Mike mentzer

@@Depressedbutthole123 you are partially correct, going close to or to muscular failure is best for optimal muscle growth but that is within rhe context of higher rep ranges 6-15 reps depending on the weight you are using. Singles, doubles, and triples are more so about fine tuning motor unit recruitment for DISPlAYING maximal force production not for building the base of muscle which gives more strength potential. The guys you mentioned were on gear so unless you are too you have to consider that recovery will take longer than those guys so maxing close to your 1RM ceiling rather than rep ceiling at a lesser weight than your 1RM may not be ideal.

Probably no better way to out yourself as a PED user than gaining 200lbs on your squat in just half a year lol, while starting at a respectable weight of 300. To all the kids commenting and about to reply, take 6 months, try to do half as good as this natural and then come back to reply once you got your ass kicked by reality

for him yes, for the bar no. if he bails like this he shouldn't squat in a rack with safeties. You lower the bar down on the safeties if you have them, and bail only if something goes really wrong.

@@larryboi2706 I'm not even sure it's the bar with the problem here, it's the rack. That's a lot of weight to dump at the very end of the safeties, you can see they don't handle it well. As already stated there is no need to bail like this if you use safeties. If you can't lower onto them then they're too high and looking at his later reps he could probably have placed them 3 rungs higher.

You definitely have the drive, motivation, and potential to go as far as you want youngster. But I gotta keep it real with you. Aside from the first few squat PR's in this progression: not a single other one of your squats would've counted as a complete lift in an acredited lifting federation. Don't worry so much about the PR's. Yes they're exciting and fun to hit, but the technical and mind to muscle aspect of training is infinitely more valuable and it will see you further in the long term. Lower your RPE's, take some weight off the bar, look into some linear progression programming, and start to include variations to improve your ROM and sticking points. THEN build back up with your new queues and execution. Your body can clearly bare these loads, so once you can control them properly, I'm sure you'll kill it.

This was awesome to watch. Really good documentation of the journey. But you do have to admit...initially you were hitting proper death with 300, 315, 275x3, 335, etc..Then as the weight got higher, so did the depth little by little. I don't think you have to squat ATG. But below parallel is ideal. Either way you worked hard to progress so hats off to you. 💯

Easier to lift it lowbar. Reason why most powerlifters lift lowbar. Typically weightlifters use high bar
@dctPL

When you do low bar then the depth of your squats becomes limited while the weight you can squat goes up by ~10%. Low bar technique is typical for powerlifters and strongmen 'cause depth is pretty much irrelevant for them as long as they hit parallel.

@@mrgaudy1954 It doesn't matter. The way he titled the video did not imply his post injury. He implied he actually went up 200lbs in 6 months. @geovani20091
@geovani20091 8 ай бұрын
@@wattsinaname6975 show me a study that proves your point! See, the lower you go, the more torque you have to generate in your joints. That's just basic physics. For muscle building, a full Stretch of the muscles might be ideal, but it is a problem for articulations. That's why a balance is usually ideal. That's why when you go havier then you are used, your body unconsciously stops before Depth. Look at sprinters or Olympic athletes with huge weight and barely any depth when they train for explosion moviments. I personally go low, but that doesn't mean everyone should. Even half reps have their purpose. Even just unstacking the weight you can't actually squat, holding for a few seconds and stacking it up again is a valid way to get used to higher loads. I Lost count if the amount of people going really low on their 60 kg/ 135lb squat for years and not improving much because their joints won't allow them. Then they get injured and the circle restarts.

Its so funny this guys journey is exactly like mine. I got up to 455 and my hip started fucking with me, always tight and could never stretch it out. Now Im back to 315x5 lol

Why don't you put the safety bar higher, so you don't need to drop the barbell.

Great progress, but I don't understand why people don't just set the safety bars higher, you're not going to accidently hit them unless you literally go knee to grass lmao, it makes bailing so much safer for you and for the people around you, not to mention damaging equipment less.

People underestimate how much cutting depth can add to your squat. Why not match the depth on your 300lb pr and get an honest 455 or something?
