@@pierrex3226 Garmin watches are more bulky due to display and buttons. And wearing Garmin watch means you can't wear regular watch. The fact of zero display is exactly my favorite feature of whoop this means I can use it anywhere not necessary just on wrist - for instance on biceps. I also can wear whoop on right hand and watch on left hand and it doesn't look weird as if I'm wearing two watches.

I see some utility if you have some physical condition, like in the heart or something. Also it gives some information on oxygen levels and stuff. But unless you need that info it seems like consumerism to me. And social signaling.

I use a Huawei watch for cycling, and there are some genuinely useful things it tells me. It will tell me how much time I spent with different metabolism (aerobic vs anaerobic), and it will give me a grade for how much of an improvement that particular session has made for me in both metabolic processes, which is important to me since I do sprints. It also measures strain and estimates my recovery time, which I find genuinely useful, along with tracking my speed and route. But by far the most useful thing is actually telling me how long I've slept for, and I'd get the whoop strap for the sleeping metrics. This is because I have sleeping difficulties. :') The point is, my regular watch has all the features that are genuinely useful to me in what I do, so the whoop makes no sense, but sleeping data would be very beneficial to me because I have difficulties, so I think this is only really useful to people who have a genuine need for it :)

I think it is targeted at high performing athletes who care about this data. I wear it and my coach uses the data that uploads to my Training Peaks every day to monitor my recovery and fatigue throughout training blocks. If I wasn't an athlete I would not wear one. I think the regular person should get a smart watch and get way more functionality, but for me this is the best option!

My Garmin instinct 2 has all the sensors, all the data and training and health. information and algorithms, and it cost little over 200 once ! but has a screen, GPS, training information and programs, and 30 days of battery life. I just wear the garmin at night and workouts it gives all the health and fitness information onward can want

The worst thing is that the data is consistently poor and frequently it is objectively wrong. I’ve tried two generations of whoop with the same random spikes in hr etc. the strain score and recommendations therefore are based on flawed information. Virtually useless. The only thing that was helpful was the habit tracker (which you can benefit from without the tech)

Been playing with the idea of getting a Whoop. But I can’t justify wearing something else other than a watch. I hate accessories. I don’t wear rings. But I wear a watch. So an Apple Watch + Athlytic does the same as a whoop 🤷🏻♂️ And a lot cheaper. Do I need all this data? I don’t know. But I’m learning what my behaviour (food, rest, alcohol, etc) means for my health data.

The Whoop battery lasts way longer than the apple watch. I really don't like having to charge my apple watch every day. I will never upgrade because the battery life makes the sleep features the newer apple watch models have obsolete.

I have been wearing my WHOOP now for four years, it is hands-down, not only the best fitness tracker, but one of the only must have subscriptions in my life. I wear an Apple Watch and a WHOOP, I mainly use the Apple Watch as a simple device to know, phone calls and text messages, and a WHOOP does the rest. Having the ability to track your sleep, journal, and then use all the data to actually improve. Your life has been life-changing for me. Could not recommend WHOOP more if you want to take your health seriously! Also, a common misconception about WHOOP is that you don’t need one because you don’t work out or are not an active lifestyle person, that could not be more incorrect as it is more so designed for your every day life not just your workouts.

I disagree, I got one, decided it was expensive and never renewed it. Since then I have tried cheap watchs and expensive ones including Garmin and Fitbit and none have been no where near as accurate. It also works with tattoos which many devices don't as the ink can block the light the device uses to track your metrics. Am going back to them, really wish it just showed the time but it's not a deal breaker for me.

I have a Garmin fenix 6 pro. It tracks sleep, HR, hrv, has a body battery measurement that depletes throughout the day, and given that I train 10+ hours a week, it's keeping tabs on my performance, recovery, vo2max, training load and so on. whoop cant even track steps
@youcreateyourownstory2 ай бұрын
Because steps truly have no impact on your physical health. Steps would be tracked via strain, which is automatically calculated into your personal algorithm for your body. Steps are virtually worthless in the sense of knowing what they are doing for you. This is far more in depth,and if you want something to track your steps, then obviously you have the ability to wear something else. Knowing you walked 10,000 steps today doesn’t tell me where my body is in the sense of physical strain for that day.
