I remember a newspaper photo of an elephant Land Rover was pinned on the wall behind the counter of John Craddock's shop. We were both members of the Staffs & Shrops LRC back in the 70s.

In 1996 I saw something like that at a garage in the Scots highlands. Bright yellow with 'forestry' signage. With it was a Landy on tank tracks. Still no mention of the Aussie designed and built Perentie. 🤔

Have seen a 110 In Vanuatu (SouthWest Pacific) set up as a field welding vehicle, with a "LandRover" badged welder mounted between the front seats. presumably belt driven from the dropbox. Very vetsatile!

Or the Land Rover Llama. A forward control Defender with a fibreglass cab sat over the front axle

Another great short thanks. I don't suppose BMW wanted Land Rover for innovation like the farmers friend. Because they wanted to make their own X5 competitor to the Rangy.

Dutch or Belgian military had 2wd LRs as radio cars. Transfer box ran the generator rather than 4wd

The glory days of Land Rover in my opinion. The SMOMOT Land Rover forage harvester. Single Machine One Man One Team. Find one of them if you can!

An X plate 6 wheel drive land rover farm vehicle with an aluminium flat bed body. Used for spraying with a 40 foot boom, for water carrying with a 2000 litre bowser and micro granular spreader. Drive for the equipment was by direct drive of a hydraulic motor from the front crank. The sixth axle was driven by a transverse gearbox off the middle axle. Driven by a 2.2 diesel with a turbo. This was adapted by a company from Trumpet in Herefordshire. I have no picture, sorry

They'd definitely make it onto a cool conversions list, however there are just a few too many out there to make the unique list. If you want us to make a conversions video, we would definitely look into it!

@arthurdent2900 great shout, we've mentioned it before in a video, and if the demand is there for a part 3, it's a very strong contender!

I think That Farmer's Friend might have been killed off by BMW, maybe due to them having a hissy fit when VAG managed to buy the rights to build Rolls Royce and Bentleys car. BMW made up a cock and bull story about Rover losing them loads of money. The rest is history. I still remember seeing articles back in early '90's of VW's new Beetle. That took a very long time to develop before it came onto the market. Also if BMW was dire financial problems how can they afford to build a Rolls Royce factory near Goodwood? Riddle me that. Great video.

Would a fifth ( 5th ) wheel Land Rover count as unique ?
@FamousFourProductsLtdАй бұрын
There are a fair few 5th wheel Land Rover's out there so sadly we wouldn't call them unique, but they are certainly different!
@BrianM0OABАй бұрын
@@FamousFourProductsLtd Yeah that was what I thought, recall seeing a series 2 5th wheel but not looked to see if any more where made.

You obviously don't know the meaning of the word unique.
