I was at a point where I was stuck and your video helped with just enough theory that it wasn't overwhelming ..because I have searched for videos to show me how and where to go on the neck when soloing..I could play some chords and start a solo and then get stuck because I didn't know what to go next bit this helped after hundreds of videos..but I have learned a lot from Marty Schwartz

Another great video my friend! Playing lead isn't really any more difficult than rhythm but if it isn't something you are used to it can be difficult. Using the C major as an example was a great starting point as was the basic explanation of the 12 notes in music. Once people understand that western music only has 12 notes in total it makes things much less intimidating. Keep doing what you do!!!!

Matt I really enjoy your videos I can honestly say I've watched hundreds of them six months ago I bought a Taylor 114 had never held a guitar before tried watching other people's videos but they were too fast and too advanced you taught me so many easy ways to do so many different chords I would love to see you more videos like this since you already have hundreds of doing songs don't get me wrong I want you to keep doing those videos to I would love to see more of these and a couple more on how to do bar chords without having to Bar them I am learning to write songs and love being able to cheat and do bar chords in my songs without actually having to bar them God has definitely led me to you because you are one of the few people that I can watch and understand I also bought your DVDs they were very helpful

I love lessons like this man! Marty Music and Justinguitar have really helped me with scales and learning the pentatonic scale as well as theory and lead guitar. You've also helped me a lot too. One of the best things you taught me was that strumming was all about timing and not to have a set strumming pattern which always used to mess me up. Since you taught me about timing it's totally changed the way I play. Thanks for that! Keep up all the great work you do and God Bless!!!

I’m still learning this and from what I have been told to start off with would be the 2 strings 5th and 4th 1-2 3-4 and always finish in the key note. For example, In the key of D it would be 1-2 3-4 4th bring the D note. You can mess around going back and forth, put some hammer inside pull off’s slide into the first note but that comes a little later. I would also recommend getting some sound tracks to play over. Any way that’s my 2 cents on this from what I’ve learned so far.

I learned a lot from yourguitarsage here on youtube about scales. This video really made sense to me. I've been playing scales but haven't really thought about how to solo. I'm good feeling rhythm in a song but I'm not too good at lead guitar. This video makes solos seem less complicated and really helps me use basic chord shapes to understand and play lead guitar.
