Regarding principle 4 i only know one opening which blocks their own c pawn temporarily and that is the jobava london, but there you have actual theory to justify it because it's all about fast attacks and initiative and if the game turns out to be slower you reroute the knight asap and it somehow works out. Remember guys principles are not always 100% because there's always a position where any principle doesn't apply.

I have to ask you to take down your videos. I have learned a great deal. My opponents might see these great videos and get better. I’m afraid. Lol

I ain't a man of principles, and I believe my chess skills reflect that.

To add a few more lines: * 3:55 best moves include (1) …Nf6, so that when Qxb7 black can do …Be4 to gain a tempo on the queen and X-ray defend the rook, or (2) …Nbd7 and then followed by Qxb7 Rb8 to gain tempo on the queen while simultaneously develop two pieces and control an open file. * 7:55 as one of the comments mentioned …a5 is also viable, this can be followed by d5 exd5 exd5 a4 and force the queen off the b file and save the b pawn. … O-O is also one of the good moves.

At 19:27, Qf8# is also possible, not just Ne6#. After all, the knight on d7 is pinned and can't defend f8.

16:49 Castling can be a very aggressive move. 20:33 Normally, you'd have to worry about a zwischenzug (... Bxf4+), but after White moves his king over, Black is faced with two mate threats (Qxd7 and Qe8) which cannot both be parried.

20:30 c6 is a better move for black.. is mate in 16 which is much less obvious than Nc5 which just adds a pin to your own bishop

My thought was just play Pb6, it protects the pawn and give the bishop an escape square on b7. This places long term pressure on the long diagonal as a fianchetto setup

Excided for queen pawn opening. Studying the jobava London and there's 3 main openings and I like it but it's dangerous. But also low levels don't seem to see it coming. Still under 1200 in daily, and like 800ish in rapid.

But White taking black's rook on a8 with their queen could be a fatal mistake because it seems that the moves Qc7 followed by Bb7 by black traps White's queen after it captures black's rook.

At 4:50 white moves f3 to kick the bishop. As a 1000 that doesn’t seem intuitive to me. White moving Kc3 accomplishes the same goal of kicking the bishop but also puts the K in its natural developed square. Where the f3 pawn move is technically slightly weakening if white castled king side. Can someone explain.

I dislike some parts of the explanation regarding the passive and agressive play. An usual wording is somehow like "activity before material". I think it explains that dynamic better. Having more material is only better because you have more options to apply pressure, defend etc. Material in itself isn't worth much. If you are too passive and if a queen is "smothered" like in that game, it does exist but it has no possible activity abd therefore it only takes away a possible square for your pieces until it can move again (and might defend sure).

@11:54 why doesn’t black just take the pawn on d6 with his pawn? As white my initial thought was to push the d6 pawn but after black takes with the pawn instead of the bishop he can castle after whites move correct?

3:27 why not the Qf3 move now? it attacks the bishop and the pawn, forcing black to retreat the bishop right back or move the queen to the awkward c8
