I currently live at 3rd floor in waterway cascadia, have my own fair share of cockroach, lizards and ants. Thou it wont be as many yours. Here is what i do to eliminate or at least prevent insects from coming into my house. After this, i dont have a single pest for 2 yrs and counting. Spray pesticide outside your house during midnight, find out the obvious spot where pests will be. Spray at turning or corner spot of wall outside your house. Throw unwanted hot water into drainhole outside ur hse. Buy a timer switch and leave your service yard lights on until 3 or 4 am.pests avoid bright area. Buy cockroach, ants trapper. The frequency of doing all this need to be often initially then slowly pests will learn n avoid. Now i do some of these once a month.

Let me digest this secret kungfu and learn how to do this! First need to ensure my cats can't accidentally ingest the poison. At the moment I guess my cats are great pest control. They love playing and killing cockroaches, Beatles, lizards but it's still horrible having them inside the house. Recently started seeing some occurance of them here.

Been staying in a 2nd floor 20-year-old resale HDB for the past 3 years and I love it! I think it has a lot of the benefits of a ground floor flat but without some of the cons... For instance my unit is at the end of the corridor so no one walks past my house, I get a nice greenery view but maintain some privacy cause no one can look directly into my house (older style HDB with 1/2 height windows and not full length, and no HDB block directly opposite), I do get the occasional insects but my cats get really excited and go after it immediately, and I've only taken the lift like 10 times in 3 years when I have heavy items. Plus these days, I just walk up maskless to my house and not have to bother to put on a mask to take the lift hehe.

Hi five! My cats love insects too! Do they give it to u as like a 'gift' hahahaha. And I completely agree with you regarding the convenience of it.

There is another thing.In maybe 5-10 years time when the sea level worldwide will rise,those living Grd Flr will risk flooding depending on whether it is low lying or higher ground level where their home is located.This is not fantasy.It is a very real scenario.

Ground units are great. No need to take lifts. Easy access in n out of unit when lugging stuff.

I love ground floor. So i dont have to hold my pee or share lifts. lol. I also fence up with anti-insects meshg and grills.

staying with my parents, as a student, from age 19+??. moved from a very high floor in a windy hilly area with convenient amenities and buses, to a second-floor flat RIGHT ABOVE A FOOD CENTER. that was my embodiment of living hell. horrendous daily torture with dirty old creeps, druggies, thieving neighbours, constantly screaming children, perverts, CONSTANT COCKROACHES, flies, insects, DAILY SCREAMING from the vendor downstairs, smoke, car fumes, techno music from a van, oily smelly air staining everything, going on your walls, clothes, things, hair.... Zero privacy with people staring up at you from the hawker seats, or from the carpark and adjacent block. i blocked up my window with cardboard and still felt vulnerable. i would rather have been a prostitute than to live there. at least i'd have autonomy over being treated like a fucking object.

Thanks for the insight, their are pros and cons to this type of thing, I "try" to stay focused on the pros like, not having to use stairs or lifts. Less wait time when carrying groceries or when needing to use restroom room .. lol. I love your humor. You really crack me up sometimes.. I needed the chuckles today!

it's the worst lol no privacy, full of noise, dirty, if got coffeeshop damn jialat, oily smelly and x10 the noise and u feel like ur a zoo animal from all the chikopeh
