I've had the 2022 Toyota GR86 for several months now and can honestly say I made the right choice going with this car. I've driven several of its competitors over the last few months including the Subaru BRZ, Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger, Chevrolet Camaro, and Subaru WRX, but none of them compare to the Toyota GR86 in my opinion. This car is the perfect balance of price, styling, performance, and driver enjoyment. Here are 6 reasons you SHOULD buy the Toyota GR86.
🚗 Vehicle in This Video:
2022 Toyota GR86
MSRP: $27,700
Engine: 2.4L 4-cylinder
Transmission: 6-speed manual
Horsepower: 228hp @ 7,000 rpm
Torque: 184 lb-ft @ 3,700 rpm
Curb weight: 2,811 lbs

Me too!!!! Difficult to have in Italy ,on 2022 they sent only 300 cars sold out in two days..all manual gear , I ordered the Gr 86 in Halo white colour at the end of last agost and the delivery for the moment will be on next 2023 September,but I have an appointment after half January to have more precise info about a real date of delivery ... @@jubbalandcars I might be wrong on this (so take it with a grain of salt) but one of the reason as to why is it such a good car for training drivers is because Toyota took a look at EA86 and used those thing they learned along side with Keichi Tsuchiha (Drift King) experiences with the car and built it based on those. Keichi Tsuchiha is a famous Japanese race driver who own's an AE86 and loves it. He said it in an interview that driven the right way the EA*^ can train the driver.

Approaching the limits - perfect comment. One of the reasons I love my 2013 scion frs 10 series. It's like driving a toy everytime I get in it. Smiles and fun. And, it gets in the high 30's mpg on the highway. Also on reliability - I've had my car over 9 years and only one problem. I needed a new clutch after 5 years or 50K miles or so. That's it. NO other issues. I have 71K miles on the car now.

I have owned three AE86 sprinters and Levins they did not need much more than 160hp to keep up with turbo cars on track as you could carry more speed into the corner and brakes held up well been light. So now a bit older looking forward to my GR86 which is now in build. It will be driven on road but still the odd track day. Will get a set of Rays and grippy tyres and a bit of negative camber on the front.

yes on the sneaky practicality - I fit my upright bass plus amp/cabinet and extras! I have a 22 BRZ 6MT, aside from the points you mentioned, I like the fact these cars are NA (no turbo lag which means punching it through corners in the city is fun) and have the Toyota D-4S intake (hopefully better for keeping valves clean).

@@MeltingRubberZ28 You shouldn't be driving ANY rear wheel drive vehicle in a snowstorm regardless of what type it is unless you have no choice. FWD or AWD is the way to go. The type of tires matter most of all. I was born and raised in the NYC Area of NJ and we were all smart enough to put snow tires on our cars in the Winter. Even a FWD or AWD vehicle won't do so well in Winter weather without snow tires.
@MeltingRubberZ28
@MeltingRubberZ28 3 ай бұрын
@thullraven1 so I would tend to agree with you. I've lived in the NE 35 years now and have the same mentality. It seems either its just a snow tires thing, or maybe it's that the 86/BRZ already has such skinny tires but a lot of people drive them thru the winter. The Topher on here has done it for a decade now, SavageGeese did it in Chicago, I chatted with a guy in Colorado that's been doing it for a few years now. It seems plausible and I'm considering it.

New upgraded motor is great but I no longer have any storage space, no satellite navigation and no spare wheel. Oh and I got the manual so missed out on some very key safety features only found in the automatic. I drive in rural areas all the time with no phone coverage so apple car play maps is useless to me. @@MeltingRubberZ28 Yes, I went with Cusco Type-RS years ago, 1.3k$ + 50$ for the bearings, got them installed for 20$, the rest of the install I did myself, 50$ for the backlash tool and paste (not required, I just wanted to double check), fluids, 1.5k$ total is a good estimate. If you get everything done by someone else I would say at least 2k$ maybe 2.5k$. Now the behavior of the car actually makes sense when attacking challenging sections at the track, it is a new, completely different car. These cars had $5k to $10k mark ups at the time he made the video and he has the audacity to call it “underrated”. A matter a fact the mark up was so high that for the same price I got a BMW 230i that had little hype behind it and it absolutely annihilates the GR86 in every metric. The 86 is the best sub $30k car but anything more and there are much better choices.

Less than 230hp but fuel consumption is like it would have 460hp.
