You don't sterilize substrate. You pasturize it.

Gets the substrate so hot it affects the quality. Could end up with mush if using rice, for example.

See my monotub is fully cultivated and has already formed hyphal knots but that’s as far as it’s gotten and doesn’t seem like it’s going much further idk if it’s just taking longer than it’s supposed to or if I fucked up. This is my first attempt at growing mushrooms and it’s been successful the whole way so far I just feel like my mushrooms are behind

If ur seeing knots/growth/bumpy mycelium just be patient some cakes can take a month b4 pinning. Also check Reddit lots of advice/tips

My grow kit is not fruiting, been three months now, It looks a little dry and hard, so since opening the bag, I have been misting it once a day, hard to know if I am over watering are not, as there is water collecting in the bag, just doesn't seem to be soaking it up!! 😢😢

Here are a few suggestions to help you address these issues: Hydration: It's essential to maintain proper moisture levels in the substrate for optimal growth. If the substrate appears dry and hard, it may need more hydration. However, be cautious not to overwater, as this can lead to contamination or drowning of the mycelium. You can try misting the kit more frequently, but in lighter amounts, to encourage even distribution of moisture. Also, ensure the kit is draining excess water to prevent pooling!!! Air exchange: Proper air exchange is crucial for healthy mushroom growth. Make sure your grow kit is placed in a well-ventilated area, allowing for sufficient air circulation. If the kit is enclosed in a bag, ensure that it has some holes for air exchange. You can also try fanning the kit gently with a clean object like a piece of cardboard a few times a day to encourage gas exchange. Temperature: Different mushroom species have specific temperature requirements for fruiting. Generally, a temperature between 65°F and 75°F (18°C to 24°C) is suitable for most species. Make sure the grow kit is in a location with a stable temperature within this range, as significant fluctuations may inhibit fruiting. Light: Although mushrooms don't require much light, they do need some exposure to initiate fruiting. Ensure your kit is receiving indirect, natural light or a low-intensity artificial light source. If you've tried all of these suggestions and your grow kit still isn't fruiting, it's possible that the mycelium has exhausted its nutrient supply or has become contaminated. In this case, you may need to consider starting a new grow kit or exploring alternative methods of mushroom cultivation.

@Mushroom Site thanks for the tips. I managed to grow GT last year in a bag, but these B+ seem to be stagnant for months now. Is it possible that I opened the bag too early? The mycelium didn't seem to be doing any more growing and the bag felt really dry and hard, that's why I decided to open it and mist, but that was months ago, misting once a day, and it seems that the block is not soaking up the water. I injected 5ml water into the block, which is something I did after my first flush of the GT when it looked dry. Maybe the temp isn't right either, as I am in the north of UK, and it has been quite a cool spring so far, and my wife refuses to out on the heating due to price hikes. Thanks again. 😊

@A S What kind are you growing? I had two grow bags of b+, and I decided a few weeks ago to experiment, I kept one in the bag, and the other I put into a mono tub. I mist them both, and lo and behold, I found my first pin in the mono tub today. So, the experiment was a success. 🍄

I bought that dumb glow in the dark mushroom log. Never grew. Its still in the tupper ware container for 3 years now. I just took it out today and sprayed it with water. It has some dirt in it s I soaked the dirt a little with water

I smoke cigarettes in the house dors that slow growth ? Since cigarettes smoke pruduces co2 if so is there a device that cleans the air or removes co2 from the air ?

You breathing in your house makes much more CO2 than any cigarettes would.

Is it a good idea to put water into the given plastic bag, where the growbox will stay in? So that the growbox sits in water inside the plastic bag?
