When you think of “schizophrenia”, what comes to mind? The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Psychiatric Disorders (DSM-5) defines schizophrenia as a mental disorder consisting of a constellation of symptoms such as delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thinking, and abnormal behaviors. In this video, we'll be talking about the signs of schizophrenia.
Disclaimer: No single symptom alone is characteristic of the disorder, and people exhibit different symptoms. Please do not self-diagnose and seek professional help if you are worried about your health.
If you want to learn more about what schizophrenia is, check out this video: • What is Schizophrenia?

I got diagnosed with schizophrenia 18 years ago as a teenage. Spent my whole life fighting schizophrenia. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until my mom recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

100% agree I used to have Psychosis and paranoid thoughts like "people thinking about me talking about me etc. Very odd behavior after getting off Adderall from 7-16. Antidepressants at 18-29. 31 now. I took way to much, but took about 20g of Gold caps (Psilocybin containing mushroom) I analyzed my entire life. The emotions that came out helped me understand behavior etc more. Wont ever need to do it again because I'm happy and contempt forever, but I wish more people did this to alter their perception of reality. Would help with healing much trauma

I myself was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia too. And I attempted suicide in 2015 by sleeping pills. I still don't know if it was luck or bad luck that I survived, because I still have false beliefs even though I can clarify them by myself. Auditory hallucinations also attack me occasionally. I find myself incompetent, study more with poorer result compared to healthy people. And spending an enormous amount of time trying to learn and manage to deal with the symptoms, with my career and social life behind everyone. I was once an excellent student in class, but now it's all disappointment.
@art.of.verser
@art.of.verser 3 жыл бұрын
@@halcyon.89 I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder after spending eight days in a mental hospital, all while finishing an associate's in graphic design. I was a week away from finishing the program, to be specific. I still have the usual intrusive thoughts, the visual/auditory/tactile hallucinations. I can only manage through the thoughts by making art and writing. Writing is the only way I can purge my feelings. The second I talk to someone, my voice is low, but not to a point of being barely above a whisper (which was the case when I was little). But the second I project it, it somehow comes off as if I'm yelling but unfortunately, this is exactly why I rarely talk to most people on the street. And also, for some reason, I would go off on the occasional tangents afterwards. That makes it all the more scary for me bc I thought (and still think) to this day that I'm an alien from another planet with no particular understanding of social cues. But, I send you love and virtual hugs. I only hope that others will normalize the conversation of mental health in general and find more resources in the future. ❤️

I have a friend with schizophrenia that has explained some of his issues. Aside from the visual hallucinations, he sometimes has moments where is brain tricks his memory. So while he thinks he stood up and put the milk away, and truly believes he did, he never actually got off the couch. His memory almost immediately omits something it was told and his family has called 911 when they found him sitting on his bed, staring into space for hours. To him, it was just a few minutes. He explained a bit of visual hallucinations but they aren't really relevant to my comment but all in all, I'm really happy I wasn't unfortunate enough to have this.

when you learn to smile and wave in to the demon wind, you're not cured, exactly, but now you aren't crying about the wind, or letting it push you toward killing yourself and others, like it likes to do, demon wind that it is, motivated war between species that the demon wind prosecutes across our space and time, (from the fungal side!) This is the only way to go, it's not like we had a choice, and the nice thing about smiling and waving out the open universe-window, is it makes you kinda magical; most people keep the curtains pulled down, or calcify that pineal gland window with SSRI's and antipsychotics, problem is it's disconcerting cause the others from the 1% schizophrenic people are atomized, not working together, so you tend to feel lost and confused among the muggles, wondering what's wrong with you compared to those you try to be with, and that billions-of-dollars education system might point out that opening that window to the universe is an option with repercussions to consider, accomplished by various means, don't hide it from us and leave it up to the demons to teach, imagining us to be oblivious as if the pineal gland is already calcified just from your delusional wishing it.

I am not self diagnosing; I feel that a lot of this points to how I’ve been feeling for the past couple of months, (almost a year actually, I think) and how I’ve been behaving. Not only am I constantly paranoid about the inevitable or just absolutely bogus things happening or appearing (such as demons and monsters), but it keeps me up for so long at night because of how terrified I am of the darkness of the room, or the supposed breathing I hear in the corner of the room or underneath my bed, or my dead cat meowing outside my window. Some nights I wait until the sunrise so I can go to bed, and even then, I still press myself tightly against the wall, with minimal space to move, and shroud myself in my blankets and hide my face because I’m afraid of what I might see (I even cover my ears because I swear I can hear breathing that is not my own, a pair of heavy but slow footsteps on the carpet by my bed). My mind is constantly wondering in an endless daze and I’m always so paranoid and anxious. I hate being alone. I hate sleeping all alone, I hate closing my eyes when I’m alone. Some nights the paranoia is so bad that every single sound I hear has me twitching and whimpering uncontrollably; hugging myself, rocking myself, crying etc. I’ve been awfully catatonic too, not only constantly asking people to repeat what they said to me, but also not even being able to focus. I just wanna know what’s going on with me, I would totally tell my parents, but a few years ago I’d stopped talking to them about anything because they didn’t take me seriously. I’ve been bottling things up inside and it’s becoming painful. Mom’s literally LAUGHED at me when I told her that I felt like I was probably depressed or something and told her that I cry myself to sleep a lot and constantly have panic attacks. And I’m just afraid to tell dad anything because he’s so quick to anger. I just....don’t have anyone I can tell. I don’t feel safe. One of the reasons behind my anxiety and panic attacks are because I feel so alone, (I’m bi and non-binary and my folks are homophobic as well and transphobic and they’re always saying how that kind of thing is an abomination before the lord) and I don’t wanna have to explain myself and get thrown out or mess my relationship with my family up. I just wanna solve this some day (hopefully soon). I hate having to explain myself to people who don’t take me seriously or simply just don’t even try to understand because “it goes against what God says” or because I’m “too young to be feeling this way” or “it’s just a phase, you’ll grow out of it”. I just want a hug and some kind words, not a lecture and a quick “goodnight, sleep well” i never even get an “I love you”.

omg i get the same thing for sleeping, but my bed is in the middle of my room so i have to huddle as many things over me as possible, and cover my face as much as i can without suffocating myself. I also get thoughts of the footsteps being a pedophile or a rapist waiting for the perfect moment to strip the blankets off me and do it. I struggle with trust issues so badly i even think teachers at school are out to get me and that everyone at school secretly is plotting to kill me. i've had panic attacks at school but my teachers disregarded it as "just shyness". I'm super paranoid i can't be in the same room as a Bunsen Burner without thinking someone's gonna be set on fire at this point. I've even had hallucinations of my house burning down, which is one of my greatest fears. I've also got PTSD from almost drowning before, so that adds to the hallucinations. I also went through this period of time genuinely believing i was immortal and that nothing could stop me from living forever. I've had beliefs that my dad was a ghost before. it's not fair at this point. I can't tell my family about this because they won't believe me cuz i hide it from them, so i can seem "normal" around them. I can't talk to a psychiatrist because i struggle to talk about my emotions and what's going on inside because when i do i go off on inaudible tangents of slightly slurred speech as if i were drunk. I do desperately need to see a mental health professional but the mental health system in the UK is absolutely shite so i'll probably get misdiagnosed as anxiety or PTSD anyways. I hope you seek help random stranger and i hope i didn't trigger anything too bad , this was just my personal experience i wanted to share :,) ~𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒙 J🖤

I’m so sorry that you are going through this. These situations are so real it’s like real life😢I can’t imagine the turmoil you go through on a daily basis, especially with an aloof mom and easy to anger dad. You must feel so pent up inside, like a volcano about to erupt. But I advise you find some sort of outlet, whether it’s writing down your feeling in detail or take video diaries. Watch the movie A Beautiful Mind, it will be revolutionary for you. Read and research everything there is to know about schizophrenia. And idk ur religious believes but I am a Christian and I believe Christ can heal your mind. He sees your pain and your tears each time you cry😢I know that you have been hurt by the church and your parents, but God died for you. You were never supposed to have this crippling issue. He loves you and wants to heal and change you, you just have you accept him as your Lord and savior. I’ll tell you what, whenever you have a terrible nightmare, sleep paralysis, or hear that scary breathing or foot steps or a meowing, say: “I bind you spirit of paranoia and schizophrenia in the name of Jesus. You have no power! I know you’re there. With the sword of the spirit(which is the Bible), I cut down every lying spirit whispering in my ears in the name of Jesus and I commanded you to go to the pit! I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind, my body , and my entire room, even the windows. I speak peace over me in Jesus’ name amen.”

I'm so sorry... My brother became schizophrenic after consuming a massive amount of weed :( (some people are more susceptible to this influence than others) Been in and out of hospital for 20 years, but never been the same. Never had a family, never travelled. He was the person I looked up to and when he got sick it took me a good 5 years to be able accept it. Just somehow thought I could reach him. To make things worse, my darling Mum, the kindest human being developed Capgras disorder and has disappeared. My sister has bipolar and experiences hallucinations and paranoia when under extreme stress and me? Extreme depression and anxiety. I'm the lucky one really but I can't say I'm not afraid of what will happen to me in time. Hard to know what the point of anything is when life shits on your entire family. Hard to be positive. I hope your brother will be okay and is at the very least getting treatment. Sorry x

People with narcolepsy also hallucinate sometimes. the most severe version is called Narcoleptic psychosis where the REM stage of sleep becomes active even when the person is awake. the symptoms are similar to schizophrenia so its often confused for schizophrenia but the main difference for narcoleptic psychosis is that the symptoms only occur when the person is really tired.

There are no guarantee in life that you will have perfect health. Even if your thinking is perfect and your behavior is immaculate, though your risk may be much reduced for accident, illness or injury, you still have this risk because that is part of being in the world. People often want to eliminate the idea of risk. They do not like the idea that they have to live with risk, and so they believe, “There is really no injury or accident in the world. There is no sickness. It is all the result of human dysfunction, and if human dysfunction could be eliminated, well, there would be no accidents, injuries or illnesses.” Again, look at the world around you. Look at the plants and the animals. They all take a risk in living here. There are no guarantees that everything will go perfectly for them, that they will all live a long span of years. To be in life, you must be in life as it is not as you want it to be. To experience life, you must experience life as it is and not as you want it to be. I had a friend who had schizophrenia. He was at a decline: started diving everyone, threw away his job, his spending habits were more lucrative, and had improbable life plans. His personality changed he was more arrogant and hostile. When he got to the peak of his mania his thinking prossess was on the lines of 2+2= fish, he kept on getting arrested for trespassing and public disturbance. Then was finally put into a mental hospital and was given treatment. His life got fucked. But he is on cylinders. The most jaw droping thing is in his mania he still retain his intelligence and smarts, and when he was getting visited he stoped being all loopy and acted normally.

I found out that I have psychic powers and wasn't mentally ill. I proved it by changing certain lyrics of a song using thought broadcasting that only me and a friend can hear and recognized and the friend I proved it to freaked out in a way like a ghost was seen, sweating bullets, and their heart was racing which made me realize that I wasn't schizophrenic and people wasn't out to get me nor was they reading my mind like the symptoms of schizophrenia. Actually now they're telling me accurate information that they didn't even know or know why they even said it in the first place and then just brushes it off like it's nothing to be concerned about at all and move on as soon I'm done with them.... I made some chicks say some dirty, private, and naughty things in loose conversations with their friends that go unnoticed by everyone. It's awesome! 🤤😎 I kinda of feel like Aleister Crowley. I'm just a very small part of the mystery that makes up life. So yeah my life got a lot better! Thank you! 😋

In our country, a schizophrenic inhabitant of the Iraq with schizophrenia ran amoc with a car and while in court, he at first lamented having lost his children while 5 minutes later not recalling them any longer. This is truly frightening

Thank you for the videos you create. it's nice to have videos like these to help break down a lot of the clinical "jargon" the doctors use to help understand certain aspects of a diagnosis.

Your friends are likely experiencing psychotic episodes and/or schizoaffective disorder. They are similar to schizophrenia, except they are not permanent. And, please talk to someone who can help them. It's incredibly dangerous to get addicted to drugs, and it's important to get them off of them quickly.
