I had a set design class in my middle school and we would build stuff so we would have tools in the class. The teacher was super chill. We didn't have assigned seats, could talk all class period, could eat in his class, use our phones. That class was just amazing

I have worked with multiple tools throughout my education in Denmark, including in the lower grades. It is also obligatory to have woodworking in Danish grade schools, so kids work with saws, hammers, chisels, drills and so on

7:50 since its a craft knife (rather than a pocket knife or whatever) i think it might be okay. At least, it was in my high school bc I took art classes so we used scalpels and other knives like that to make lino prints, some sculpture stuff, or to cut really small details into paper. The theater department and carpentry class also used big saws and heavy machinery so i don't think it would have been a huge deal. But on the other hand, almost every class I had in high school would allow snacks. Even if one class didn't, the others probably would and I don't know why anyone would ever go through so much effort for a snack you would only be not allowed to eat for like an hour
