The advice on what to spend money on (the jacket and boots) and what you can "cheap out on" was very good! The advice about the wallet was good and unexpected too!

Future self to old self, it will take time and years to slowly build a good wardrobe with intention. You will build it slowly if you stick to a plan and keep at it. Buy quality clothing pieces that will be timeless and give you the flexibility to wear it anywhere if choose. You won’t have everything all at once, but start in one corner of wardrobe, improve it and work your way slowly across to the other corner. You’ll eventually get there and if you don’t let her derail your plans!

I have a different take on the items that are worth investing in. I absolutely agree agree that I should be investing in timeless items. Over the last few years, I've picked up some pieces that I should be able to wear 20-40 years from now … and they probably have the quality to last that long. Comfort is worth investing in. More than any other quality, my shoes and boots have to be comfortable to wear. If they're not comfortable, then I overpaid for them … particularly if they're expensive. I'm more willing to invest in items that I won't outgrow/outshrink. I lost 30 lbs. (~15kg) in 2020. I had to replace most of my wardrobe (or take it to the tailor for resizing). A few items had to be replaced or resized twice. Certain items (shoes, boots, etc.) will still fit if my weight increases or decreases. Therefore, I'm more willing to invest in them. I'm also willing to pay when I'm getting something for my money. In my opinion, Omega or a Longines are only worth it for watch enthusiasts … or those seeking to impress a watch enthusiast. I own a small collection of Russian/Soviet mechanical watches, and nobody in my circle of friends/coworkers/acquaintances will ever realize that they're less expensive than Swiss watches. I have always been reluctant to purchase expensive looking luggage. Many cities have serious problems with theft (e.g. Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, NYC, Rome), so there's a disadvantage to carrying luggage that screams "steal me."

In terms of footwear formality brogue shoes are considered significantly more casual than a plain or cap-toe. The brogue pattern comes from the Celtic tradition of punching holes in country walking shoes for extra breath-ability and draining water when walking in marshlands; dress shoes (worn indoors) didn't need this and so the less detailing the more formal the shoe.

I have all 3 fits for sweaters and love them in all sorts of colours. As for wallets, I can't seem to keep a slim wallet!

Apart from the product placement, I actually don't have anything to complain about this time. Just a little tip: Please never look for the big watch brands. My favorite watch brand is (and forever will be) NOMOS Glashütte. Their options are pretty inexpensive for what you're getting and their factory is like 50 km from me. (Glashütte is a small watchmaker town, there are a lot of other amazing (even luxury) watch brands situated there. Go check it out!)

Great video content! I think I am well covered when it comes to jackets, coats and lace up boots. Have plenty of sweaters, but don’t own any cashmere ones. Not sure if their high tag price it worth their durability, need to look into this further. The item that I am more hesitant to make an upgrade is on the watch piece. Would you recommend a traditional watch over a smart watch? Lately I see a lot of people with smart watches, both genders, so I can’t make up my mind on this one.

The only thing on the list you can get away buying cheap are denim jackets in my opinion. In my experience, because of the already durable fabric, even options from cheaper brands last decades and you cannot see a difference in quality. I own a Levis Denim Jacket and one from H&M. The H&M Jacket is already 8 years old and feels as good as the one from Levis.

My advice, buy a minimalist watch with mesh bracelet. Its very versatile and durable. My Skagen watches are more than 5 years now and still functions well. I change batteries every 2 years.

Ummm Rolex and the other investment pieces that are in the 10s of thousands are not the same as a 2k jacket. Watches have stepped up their game at the 100-500 range. Look up 11/11 watch videos and get you a good piece for real. Watch people know enjoying a well made piece (lasting 10yrs before servicing) doesn't require more money than that 🙄

Like the other items you mentioned, jeans are also a thing you should ivest in, at least one or two good pairs.
