If you are either currently trying to decide if you take the option of having a lumpectomy or you are preparing for your operation or you've recently had the operation then this video is for you.
Today I share six things that you can expect so that you don't get any more surprises following the surgery.
***
WORRIED ABOUT A BREAST LUMP OR SYMPTOM?
FRUSTRATED AND CONFUSED BY CONFLICTING INFORMATION?
TRYING TO NAVIGATE LIFE AFTER BREAST CANCER DIAGNOSIS AND DON’T KNOW WHERE TO TURN?
Breast health has become an important topic for both women and men. But with a huge amount of conflicting and confusing information out there, it can be hard to find the advice, support and care that you need.
My Breast My Health was created to make understanding breast health easy. Whether you’re looking to learn how to keep your breasts healthy, concerned about new symptoms or learning to live post-diagnosis, you’re in the right place.
Hi, I'm Dr Tasha
I’m a Doctor, Breast Cancer Surgeon and Medical Educator. After 20 years helping people to understand and overcome breast health problems, I’ve seen first hand the fear, frustration and stress that my patients go through.
As a breast specialist with over a decade’s worth of experience, I understand finding the right information, processing a diagnosis, understanding treatment and getting accurate, practical advice as you ride the rollercoaster of emotions can be really tough.
But I’m here to help.
The internet can be a wonderful source of information but when it comes to breast health there’s a lot of inaccurate information out there. Listening to the wrong advice could cause you unnecessary worry or even put your health at risk.
So I wanted to create an accessible hub where you could find useful, accurate and reliable information from a trusted source - a Breast Health Doctor - all in one place.
That’s exactly what you’ll find here on my KZfaq Channel.

Thank you Dr.Tasha for crucial information. It's been 12 days of my fibroadenoma post op. I used to have sharp shooting pain and the lesion was also about size of an egg. Thus I decided to get that removed. I stsyed 36 hrs on hospital after my exscisional biopsy. I was okay there,maybe it was due to they gave pain relievers and antibiotic through vein. I started feeling pain after I came home. I was really worried why isn't my pain still vanished after tumor removal. Now I understood it's common to have pain after post op.

This video has been very helpful to me. I’m two weeks out from a lumpectomy and I do have those sharp shooting pains that you describe. I haven’t had to take any medication for it because it doesn’t last very long. I will return to my surgeon in a few days, and I’m also scheduled with an oncologist for early next week. Overall I have done well, and I’m so thankful for that!!!

@@12382576 No I didn't have reconstruction after this most recent lumpectomy 3/2023, nor did I have reconstruction surgery back in 2004, in my other breast.Both breasts look pretty okay, considering and I am happy with how I healed. I have a scar tissue from both surgeries, but I can live with that.

Hi Dr, do you usually get a reconstruction after lumpectomy? My dr said to do a LD flap if I want. My cancer is on the bottom of my nipple on my right breast. There are 2 lesions 4cm apart. Do you advise reconstruction like a LD flap or No reconstruction? Please help

Just had my breast excision yesterday,it was a really big lump that they removed so my incision was big about 5 inches in length. Tried changing the bandages today and it's hard to not have any support over it as it causes pressure on the stitches (my incision is on top of the breast). I sleep prompted up a little and I put bandage and bra over it to compress my boob. I researched as my surgeon did not gave me any instructions or what to expect after the surgery so this is very helpful of what to expect. Thank you!

Hi Dr Tasha, my breast surgeon has put in the comments on my online consent form may need therapeutic mammoplasty, after a lumpectomy they are trained in oncoplasty ? Should a plastic surgeon be involved at this point ? What happens to my other large breast?
@drtashag
@drtashag 9 ай бұрын
A therapeutic mammaplasty is a type of breast reduction surgery that can remove the cancer and at the same time reduce the breast size. The other breast can be operated too to achieve symmetry. An Oncoplastic breast surgeon is usually trained in doing these types of surgeries.

@@drtashag Thank you Dr. Also is there a chance of developing calcifications post op? Especially if it wasn't there before the surgery. I heard calcifications occur after trauma or surgery to the breast. I'm in my early 20s. I have been very worried and terrified to go for an ultrasound to see how the breast looks after my lumpectomy. It's been 6 months after the surgery.
