Soldiers used wristlets during WW1 because it was easier to look at your wrist and have both hands free than open your coat and tunic and grab your pocket watch and have your hand busy. Also, they needed to be able to know time at a glance to coordinate attacks and other operations.

Chain goes through the button hole, not on the button. This was/is to make it more difficult to pickpocket.

Inspiration is from dark cloud 2 Maximilian, the main character wears it like that so I just do it too. Seems pretty useful and looks so cool! It always grabs people's attention.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the fifth pocket (usually above and slightly inside the right front pocket) on many pairs of trousers that is designed for holding a pocket watch when a vest is not worn.

Question. I have a new pocket watch I don’t know much about them though. I was wondering if when I sleep do I keep the watch ticking any wind it again in the morning? Or do I sleep with hands stopped completely during the night and then I just set the time when I wake up? I just wanna make the battery last as long as I can make it 😅

I've been interested in getting my first pocket watch for a few months now The problem I have at the moment is that I mostly use modern urban clothing, so I'll have to see what I can improvise from that

I have around 60 nice wrist watches, but have recently started collecting pocket watches. Just like the old time feel and in the case of vintage pocket watches...the history involved. When the wrist watch was introduced, men did not take to it at once. Some thought it looked a bit woosie. But WWi put an end to that reluctance.

I got soo scared I'm not gonna lie, I have a new birthday pocket watch and it comes with a chain. It's like a normal pocket double chain and there's 2 on each side and I saw you only have 1. I got scared because I didn't really see the clip I had which connect to the chain. I realised it's just too small to see but I think it'll work.

That wasn't a double Albert - that was a single Albert looped over a waistcoat button. Double Alberts have two chains, attached to a centre bar that goes through a waistcoat button-hole. Anyone fatter than you wouldn't be able to wear a single Albert as a double.

The main requirement for wearing a pocket watch is a waistcoat. If you don't have one of those, the methods of wearing it are meaningless.

I wear a pocket watch daily. I cannot fathom hanging a chain from my button. Absolutely not. Also, the Albert... is not an Albert. I wear a double Albert and again, cannot fathom hanging a chain across my button. That is crazy. This is terrible advice.

*behaves like he knows a lot about men's fashion* *wears tie clip with waistcoat* for those of you who don't know, a waistcoat keeps your tie neatly tucked in place so that it doesn't flap around, especially with the wind. Although that wasn't the purpose of the waistcoat, that is one of the things it does. Now, the tie clips sole purpose is to keep your tie from flapping around, it was invented when people stopped wearing waistcoats so often, so wearing a tie clip with a waistcoat is double redundancy, and it demonstrates that your knowledge of classic menswear is basically limited to "more accessories = more better"
