I really like it, Andrea.🤍 I have a piece I am trying to decide, to either paint or doing the oven cleaner/bleach method. I’ve never seen the spray you shared. Checking into it. Thanks, sweet friend.🤍

Thanks for all the tips... as for the floor register, I would just paint it the same color as your rug and it would visually disappear. Love the painted dresser and the bench Mike made up in the bedroom. I still keep waiting for the bed to find its way back to the shuttered window wall. It was magical with the brass wall lamps.

To protect your hard work, finish in a matte varnish/wax. Walmart has Waverly available and it will prevent the stains from the oils from your hands.

I do love the raw wood, but having said that I also enjoy a rich wood mix in my home. 🤗 I imagine 100 yrs from now all of our raw wood pieces in thrift shops and shoppers saying WHYYYY then staining everything they purchase 😂☺️💕. Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day, you’re an awesome mama ☺️

@Gina Maria - your comment reminded me of something from years ago - I live in Central Florida & in the winter months, they hold big antique extravaganzas at a place called Renninger’s - so starting from about 25 years ago, my closest friend here & I would go every year - we were both building homes around the same time - we have slightly different taste but we both like the rustic, distressed look - they had a lot of decor items like mirrors made from old ceiling tins, sconces, architectural pieces - I remember even buying big bundles of dried tallow berries which I have to this day - so, sorry to be rambling - lol - sometimes we would buy the whole weekend ticket & go Friday, Saturday & Sunday - so one weekend, we were walking back to the car with some of our treasures and I said to her, wow, I hope we haven’t been paying all this money for this chippy, distressed stuff & it’s gonna all be out of style in a couple of years - and one of the dealers who we kind of knew because we went so often, said “ Honey, I think this look is going to be around for a long time to come “ and she was so right - of course, I have changed things up over the years, but I still have most all of the things we bought during those years in my present home - one year, I bought a child size pair of little Windsor style chairs - really chippy - several colors of paint & down to the bare wood in some places - I think, even back then, they were about $50 each & when my stepfather saw them for the first time, he said “You paid money for those ??? They’re ready to go to the dump !” He just couldn’t believe it - 25 years later, I still have them & still love them - I think even he began to sort of appreciate the look over the years - anyway, thank you for triggering some wonderful memories for me ! Blessings from sunny Central Florida ! ☺️

I love all the furniture in the lighter finishes. Beautiful! Just spray paint your floor registers to match the different flooring colors in your home. Very cheap. You probably have leftover paint. What a gorgeous home you and your husband have made for your family.

I used oxalic acid on a solid maple top for a dresser, it turned out beautiful white. It leaves a powdery residue after it dries, so I’m glad I did it outside, and I did a light sand afterwards to get it all off. I also used it on a mahogany top, which I think is a veneer, it’s started bringing whitish yellow through the pores of the wood, I think it was pulling up the glue. The dresser was probably 80 or 100 years old. And it turned mahogany, a gross purple . I haven’t tried it on Pine yet but that’s also a great thing to use. Also super cheap.

I love all the pieces. Especially the one you used as a nightstand earlier. The closet that is now full of books. The job of cleaning the wood and then adding the wax was so beautiful. I love that piece. Thanks for doing this review for the furniture repairs and inspiration. God bless you. Best wishes and much love ❤🥰🌹

Love these techniques and I’ll definitely refer back to this video/blog for my next flip. I had a really shiny red, harvest dining room table I sanded raw (took a few weeks, lol) but because it gets so much use I actually used mms dark wax to stain it the perfect neutral brown (miss m. Seed has a video on it)

@ Trina Roe - I’ve used the citristrip spray but I think the one called Kleanstrip does a way better & quicker job - not as environmentally friendly, I’m sure, but I always do stripping outside & I never have to wait overnight & usually don’t even have to cover it - I just spray it on & it just starts working really quickly - don’t ever use it indoors, though ! Greetings from sunny Central Florida ☺️

So many great ideas! 💖 Do you think the Citrus Strip would work on a black piece? It’s a sofa back table that is extremely heavy (oak?) that was factory finished in a slick smooth black. It looks like a piece that was in a high end furniture store, so not hand painted. Thank you

Beautiful pieces Andrea, is there a reason you don't seal things. Just curious I have a couple pieces you've inspired me to try, both already are natural wood, one is a table the other a drop down step stool from the home I grew up in, my brother sold me for $5.00, it's one of my very cherished pieces as I used to sit on it I'm the kitchen where I grew up and watch my mom cook or do dishes. I think ill try the bleach method and then clear seal them. With behr clear wax, thanks for the tips. I've also tried oven cleaner, no thanks smell is too bad. Enjoy your day!

@Melody hahaha it's my favorite piece, I'm a photographer so I use it a lot on sets. I paint everything, well almost everything white. But not that, it must stay the way it is. I need to glue it and make it more sturdy and then I'll try the bleach method. I love natural wood as well

@@bettymcgillis6043 So wonderful when you can have a piece like that from your family - I don’t really have anything like that, but I do have a few of my mom’s favorite decor pieces that I’ll never let go - I haven’t really done anything with natural wood, either - I do painted furniture, too, more ivory with distressing than white but probably similar to what you have - but seeing Andrea’s natural wood pieces has got me thinking of possibly trying that here & there - sounds like you have a fun, interesting career ! I was with my sister today & actually told her your story of your brother charging you the $5 for the stool - we had a fun chuckle out of that ! It’s a great little story ! Nice chatting with you ! ☺️ PS - do you watch the channel Our Green Acres ? Teresa does a lot of white painting, too - you might like her channel if you’ve not seen it

@Melody Haha 😄, we have a joke in our family about my brother's frugal style lol he is a country boy, he still lives in the home we grew up in. I love white and have used the Behr straight out of the can white as well as Simply White, and Currently Swiss Coffee an awesome warm white. I do not like any cool whites. But those are my favorites whites. Yes I've seen Green Acres, I follow a few KZfaqrs, this one, Mary from The White Cottage Company, Gingerchick, Julie's Designs and Signs, Design to the Nines. Are my favorites. Amazing women!!! Enjoy your day!
