Just for your info, the batteries are to enable the unit to store the current values once the power source is disconnected. The other thing to note is the magnetic strip will attract metal chips where you have it located, your better to put it inside some sort of casing/cover or as I did mount it underneath the saddle out of the way 😉

Thanks for clarifying the purpose of the battery! Mounting under the saddle is a clever idea we hadn't considered. For long-term use, we'll explore remounting the magnet strip and sensors since we've noticed shavings accumulating around the sensors. Appreciate your insights!

I have the same thing but it's still in the box. Read the manual - you can increase readout precission to 0.01mm.

It's strange that it's not set to 0.01mm by default, but we made sure to adjust that as soon as we powered it up.

Nice to see! I was looking into this cheap set a little while back, but I found some negative reviews on youtube about the dependability of it. Please do make a protector plate to prevent chips going in between the sensor and magnetic strip, or it won't last very long I'm affraid. I decided not to go with this model and bought standard 'big' DRO with one glass scale (Z) and one Magnetic scale (X) which cost me a about 175 euro on Ali. The X was a little cumbersome to install due to the larger than ideal dimensions for my Emco compact 8 lathe, but it's working great

Thank you for the input! Although we only work with aluminum, we have noticed some chips land between the sensor and magnet. We saw in another video that the extra strip provided can be used to protect the magnet strip, so we'll give that a try soon. One axis works great for us, but the radius axis seems to have inconsistent readings. We'll explore solutions for that. We appreciate you sharing your setup! Exploring different DRO options is something we'll consider to compare and enhance our understanding, especially as this is our first experience with a DRO.

it can go to the thousandths if you're measuring in inches and hundredths for metric.
