Greetings from London 🙏 May I add one another thing to your list? I empty my veg drawers out on Friday after work, and everything on its last legs, gets washed, chopped, and added to a pan of with a pint of water, 2 stock cubes, a chopped onion and souped up to be blitzed! Kids call it IFITS soup, if ITS in the fridge, it’s in the soup! And healthy too!

My number one tip for people starting out is skip the fancy wedding and expensive diamond ring and use the money for a down payment on real estate.

For laundry; powdered detergent will save money in the long run, I've been on the same bucket of Nellie's for about two years, all you need is a spoonful per load, there's water in the machine anyway so why pay for it in the detergent. And I agree on cold water except for underwears, things that touch the tush should be sanitized. That's what I separate from the rest and do a hot mini load. Also having a drying rack to save on using the dryer is a must, especially in the winter where the air is dry anyway. The best thing I did for my wallet is learn to cook great meals and tailor clothing, I'll thrift and adjust, and I'll stretch that grocery money for a long time.

I'm a single mum who became a homeowner last year. It was a huge milestone for me! Having suffered large impact from covid ,On top of that, I'm also fortunate enough to have a pretty decent monthly income through my successful strategic investments. As a result, I have carefully planned for my retirement after my kids are done with college.

Wow, interesting indeed! Currently I'm in need of investment ideas or tips. Earlier this year I hesitated and failed to take any action until now. However, I'm determined to try some new as I am very open to various investment ideas . I want to be retired in my forties or fifties. I really wish I can achieve what you have achieved and I believe it will happen

Generally, investing requires higher knowledge. For this reason, it's important to have a solid support structure to guide you through especially in asset picking. I operate with (ALEX MARTIN TARLOR) an investment specialist who partners with a licensed wealth management firm. For the record, his experience has been the best for my finance

The older i get, the less i care about people's opinions. Often in the country i live, items are not priced or incorrectly priced only for us to enter the cashier and see a prize we are not willing to spend for that particular thing. I simply put it back or have them put it back because prizing their items is not my job and neither will i be embarrased at who looks at me and think whatever they want. Yes...overeating is expensive. Microwaving is okey. Wasting food is bad. Great points, dear.

Rosalind, I'm Amish joined 1985. They save a ton on weddings. First thry don't wear jewelry so no rings to buy. The weddings are held n the church/meeting house the younger boys n girls decorate with wild flowers n homemade stuff. Every church/meeting house has a Bishop n 2 preachers n a Deacon. The Bishop marries the couple. The reception is y Usually held at locL firehall where most males volunteer. The cake is baked by the ladies of the church. They marry in their Sunday go to meeting clothes. Gifts are pragmatic useful items from a huge jug of laundry detergent to 6 day vol work on the bride n grooms farm or house or 2 calves 1 to butcher when a steer n 1 to sell so they can get 2 more calves n Apring. Cards n such r made at home. All this saves a crap load of money it gets everyone together In celebrating the wedding. It shows love all round. A lot of couples starting out could see a lot of money and their stress level would b so reduced. Maybe they could have an Amish themed wedding bringing people together. The most expensive wedding I attended cost$250 the other married men were ready to faint. How can he afford it they said. Another man said his wedding was $103 another $89 another $76. Anyway I think it's much better this way. The average modern wedding costs $35000 then a lot are divorced within 4 years. It makes no sence. An Amish themed wedding would b much more memorable n enjoyable. Weddings like Christmas n such has become so commercialized. And if they divorce the wedding planner wouldne even remember them as its all about money for them.

I was amazed at some of the ‘frugal’ tips on here. I think they must be aimed at moneyed people, not people who are truly struggling! For instance, not eating out, cutting down on meat consumption, buying from second hand shops, cooking from scratch…..they are all the kind of thing struggling people already do as they do not have the money. We were married and bought our first house 43 years ago. aged 21 and only had items given to us to furnish house, and I made curtains. Times got harder when the financial crash made mortgage rates soar and we just had to use all our money on paying the mortgage so we wouldn’t lose the house. I only had clothes that were given to me or I bought in charity shops. Everything was made from scratch, the ends of soap were collected and grated wash clothes. We grew veg in the garden, went out walking or to library, museum etc (free entry) no food was wasted. Anything left over was used next day in soups, pies, curries etc. no clothes dryer, everything dried on outside line and finished off on a clothes horse inside. Heating wasn’t used unless it was frozen outside. More clothing and rugs to put over knees. Heat was never left on when we were out, and never over night. I’m aghast at how wasteful people are and what is considered ‘essential’ basically, if we didn’t have the money, we didn’t buy anything. There were days when we couldn’t eat.

Thanks for your comment! I would venture to say that anyone who is able to watch this video is someone who is "moneyed" or has some kind of income. And there are people who have extremely low incomes but still spend their money on frivolous wants and have very little left for their needs leading to constant utility shut offs, leans on their homes, credit card debt, etc. You made great choices with the little you had. There are people that don't know how to that instinctively and that's who this video is aimed at. Be blessed!

@@frugalcreativeliving yes, you’re right. There will always be people that can’t or won’t budget properly. Also, I am in the UK, and there might be different life expectations/lifestyle. I am proud of how my house was immaculate, as were my children. I knitted and made clothes. My Husband is a proud Man and would not have let anyone know we were struggling. People thought we were well off due to our high standards with little money. Home cooking from scratch is the biggest way to save money.

Woaaah! 72 degrees??? SOOO HOT. Dress for the season. In the winter, there is no reason you can’t wear sweaters and fleece around the house. It is much healthier than keeping the heat even at 70°. What I discovered is that when I keep the thermostat low, WE DO NOT GET SICK. By low I mean about 63° during the day and 59 to 61° at night. We live in New England. If I kept my thermostat where others do, all of my income would go toward paying utilities. That is my least favorite use of my income. You get used to having the temperature lower and it is healthier. When it gets very hot in the summer, I do not use a lot of air conditioning. Just enough to keep the indoor temperature somewhat cooler than the outdoor temperature and to keep the humidity at a healthy level.

I grew up with my parents keeping the heat around 80 degrees which was way too hot for me. Then I lived with my grandmother for 8 years who kept the temp around 65 which was a little too cold for me. When I was single I kept it around 69 but that's too cold for my husband so, we have to compromise and it's still much lower than how it was when I was growing up. It's all relative. We have to balance it out in other ways. Thanks for commenting!
