60 Second Review: K&N DryCharger Filter Wrap

It's time for another 60 second product review. This time we're taking a look at the K&N "DryCharger" filter wrap which we ordered for a custom cold air intake project we're working in. Do these work as advertised? Let's find out.

Does anyone know if you can restore the water repellent treatment? For example using the spray on water repellent treatment used for outerwear from nikwax

Do not do that lol. It will greatly restrict flow if you’re just hand spraying repellent on yourself.

I’m having trouble finding the correct fitment What’ air filter do you have and which wrap is that

I think the best bet for finding a wrap that fits your current filter is to make sure you know the dimensions of your filter and to cross-reference them with dimensions that K&N lists for their various wraps on their website ( www.knfilters.com/search/wrap ). Once you find a compatible dimension from this list you'll know which K&N part number to order. Hope that helps!

@@TrashPandaGarage i ended taking the wrap off as it seems to lose air going into the filter

Can you use 2 of them on the filter? Could it repel more water with minimal air restriction?

I'm guessing that would potentially create too much air restriction? Not totally sure. I'm definitely not an engineer and couldn't say one way or the other with much certainty.

How well do you think itll do if you hit a puddle?

I would try to avoid that. I think a big splash of water will result in some partial saturation of the filter.

Could this restrict airflow at WOT?

I wouldn't think so, but couldn't say for sure. That might be a good question for the K&N customer service line.

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that the engine can suck any amount of water strait through that thing...

It offers a little more protection than not having one, for sure.

⁠@@KevinWolfaythey’re rated as being dust proof i believe. the mesh is made with tiny holes to keep out debris and let air pass through to the filter. and if you oiled your filter like you should have, any dirt or debris that might have gotten through gets trapped there.
