60007 Sir Nigel Gresley meets STEAM tug 'The Danny', Frodsham, 23rd May 2024

60007 Sir Nigel Gresley working The Settle & Carlisle Fellsman, Crewe / Chester to Carlisle, D1924 ( 47810) is on the rear.
Starting at Sutton Weaver on a very miserable, wet and windy morning, we see SNG crossing Frodsham Viaduct, and over thr River Weaver Navigation, where 'The Danny' is moored.
The Danny, Daniel Adamson, is a steam powered cruise boat, that was built in 1903 as a steam tug.
Later at night ,we see Sir Nigel returning to Chester / Crewe as the railtour makes a stop at Frodsham.

Fantastic video Phil that brought back some fond memories. My first job after leaving school in 1969 was with the Manchester Ship Canal Company. One of the first things you did as part of the introduction to the company was a trip up the canal from Salford Docks on the Daniel Adamson. Another one was watching a lock gate being changed, which wasn't quite as exciting! I only found out the other day that these trips are working so I'm definitely going to do one with my wife, 55 years after the first!

Very nice Phil what a day Helsby was quite in the morning me and another chap getting wet ...but well worth it.She looked good at Frodsham.
