The basic tent is amazing! It sets up in 5 minutes with one person and takes down even faster. This video shows you the step-by-step set-up so you can see exactly what you are getting and how easy it is to put up. I know the video is kind of long, but I want to be very thorough as I felt like an idiot when I first got mine and couldn't figure out how to set it up. :) To see pricing, availability, reviews, specs, please visit www.competitiveedgeproducts.c...

I just ordered this tent a few hours ago from CEP, and got a great deal. I paid $100 less than on Amazon, and got a $50 discount on top of that, plus a ground cloth that's worth a few bucks to sweeten the deal. I can't wait for it to get here and I appreciate this video showing tips and tricks for setting it up. I was looking for a Turbo but glad I didn't find one because I think I got a much better tent for not much more money. I did my homework before choosing this tent and spent a lot of time searching for the lowest price. CEP had the best deal, and to be perfectly honest I'm not even sure how that extra $50 discount got in there, but I'm glad it did. How refreshing to buy from a local seller who is into his product and bothers to use it himself. I guess I just hit them at the right time of year, but what a great tent and what a killer deal. I'll definitely upgrade with the vestibule and maybe that top thing to make the rain shed easier, Thanks for the upload, CEP.

Charley is awesome and I am pleased to have done business with CEP; I have the 10x14 VX. Here's a tip and maybe some of you eagle eye folk may have noticed, don't walk on your tent with your shoes on. What will happen is that you will see footprints and debris all over your roof and it's bright when the sunlight peaks through. Also clean your floors thoroughly before take down to not dirty the roof from the inside.

I love the VX 10x10, at 6'4" I have real head room in this tent. My cot and gear easily fit inside with room for a chair and a small heater. I usually tent camp alone but there is plenty of room for another sleep set up or two. The set up was straight forward but getting the uprights on the pin took a little horsepower. I think next time I will just stake out the four corners, leaving a little slack, install the uprights then give the stakes a final tightening and add stakes as needed to secure the tent. We had several days of rain, heat, and high winds (gusts of 39mph) with no issues. Even the canopy performed well in the rain and wind.

Love your videos. As soon as I saw the link I was excited. I am still trying to convince the wife about getting the 10x14. I will get it one soon I hope. We have an RV and enjoy it immensely but there is nothing like tent camping when you are set up right....a Kodiak tent is the very definition of set up right. I took my grand kids out camping in early spring with a 4 man tent, which is a quite nice one, but you can't stand up in it and can barely sit up in it on your knees. However, the trips were indeed enjoyable. The kids had a ball learning how to build proper fire lays, starting fires with ferro rods, gathering tender and kindling and just playing in the woods and dirt. They even learned some camp cooking skills. They loved being able to drink cowboy coffee....but we won't tell there mom.

Thanks for the awesome review. I've seen a lot of RV's with some pretty nice tents set up to accommodate visitors, store gear, or use it for changing clothes since RV's can be a little crammed sometimes. We are heading to Yellowstone in an RV, but I will be in the Kodiak tent next to the trailer with a few of my boys who want the "tenting and camping" experience. :)

I have a few canvas tents and I live in a very small house with no garage so pack up when its wet is areal problem! you have to wait for a dry day and set it back up to air out, Some people in the market for a canvas tent may not realize this.
@Competitiveedgeproducts
@Competitiveedgeproducts Жыл бұрын
That's a very good point. I think that's the case with any tent, but that's true. You do have to get that dry as soon as you can. If it's going to be an extended period of rain it shouldn't be an issue if you can set the tent up. If there's no option and it can only be packed up wet it will mold over time so leaving it outside (if possible) set up even in rain is a better solution than leaving it packed up wet.

I wish Kodiak made the flex bow tent stove ready. Spring bar tents and flex bows are look almost identical but theirs are stove ready but they also cost like twice the price of Kodiak. Do you think the Kodiak flex bows will work ok with a self installed stove jack? Something like the winnerwell stove jack and place it at the same location that spring bar tents use?
@Competitiveedgeproducts
@Competitiveedgeproducts Жыл бұрын
You bring up a very good and common question. A stove jack is not safe enough for us to recommend on a flex bow style tent. Take a look at the youtube videos of them in the wind. They are very forgiving which makes them nice and rigid, but you won't want a stove in a tent that is so forgiving and flexible in a wind storm. Notice how each wall is sloped. A sloped wall isn't ideal for a stove. The stove tents we have are verticle for the first 4 feet, then sloop. Further, the stove tents have a lot of guy ropes around the perimeter to mitigate the wind pushing excessively on the walls. And, of course, with any tent in wind you will want to put out the fire no matter the style. Hope that helps.

Great video, thank you for being so thorough! I just ordered a 10x10 Kodiak and am very much looking forward to using it. You've saved me some potential confusion by clearly demonstrating how to easily set up this tent. I do have one question though, if it's really windy, should some guy-lines be used, to provide additional stability to the tent, and if so, where should they be placed? Again, THANK YOU!
@Competitiveedgeproducts
@Competitiveedgeproducts 2 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad it was helpful. Thanks for your comments and I think you'll love the 10x10. You can always use more guy ropes, but at some point (and I know you realize this) wind can take down any structure. It holds up great in high winds and if it gets too high you can drop the two upright poles altogether and let the tent drape over your camping gear and even if it's raining it doesn't wick so your gear would still stay dry. Let us know how it works out.

Very cool. I'm very excited. I just got mine in and planned to bring it to Talladega speedway in a couple weeks. Question, here in the south, we never run short of rain, and storms. I've been in three-day rain episodes with other tents, and have left everything at the campsite, bag, pillow, tent.... everything because nothing is worse than a wet sleeping bag. Do I need to treat my new Kodiak tent with anything?
@Competitiveedgeproducts
@Competitiveedgeproducts Жыл бұрын
Sean, thanks for your comment. You should be just fine not treating it. It's a good idea to "season" it meaning, spray it with water before using it so any sewing pin holes along the seams can close up. If you don't do that at home in your yard, mother nature will do it for you. Worst case you could get just a few drops in. Once it dries, those close up permanently. It's rare to even have those needle holes in the first place so you're likely just fine taking it right out of the box and camping, but that extra precaution of spraying it with water in your yard isn't a bad idea. Also, I bring a seam sealer that I bought off amazon. I've yet to use it, but I've used my tents for over 10 years and expect at some point the sun will get the better of it and I might need to spot treat it so I do bring seam sealer for piece of mind. Hope that makes sense. If it doesn't, let me know and I will clarify anything.

Three comments regarding the fly/awning? (These worked on other tests with a front fly that I have been in. Enjoy!) 1. Roll the awning *under* so the water cannot pool in the material as is will if you roll it the way you showed it. 2. Angle the awning down to the front or or slope it off to the side by leaning the stakes out more, supporting them with the guy ropes. 3. Create an A-frame concept by adding a center grommet to hold a third stake. Make that middle point be about 1" to 2" below the tent entryway roof/opening height either by having a shorter stake or angling it. Make the two end stakes about 4" lower than the center, again either with shortened stakes or by angling them.

Great question. They do not take away from the strength at all. Another common question is as to weather it's more risky for getting water in since you have zippers on the extra windows and the answer to that is a firm no. There is no risk of getting water in as the 2 inch overlap flaps keep it off the zippers.
