At a time when they’re needed more than ever, teachers are deserting the profession. In fact, there are now so many of them throwing away their chalk and walking out of the classroom, there are few replacements to fill the void. They say the joy has been sucked out of the job; they’ve had enough of being underpaid and overworked. The lack of teachers has become such a serious crisis in schools around the country, students are suffering - and that’s a significant failure for Australia’s future.
