As adventures go, it doesn't get any better than this. A week-long trek to the top of the world, into the icy frontier of Alaska. An epic landscape that defies description. And that's just the beginning. We went to the very heart of Alaska's glacier country, where the giant icebergs begin. And we can tell you, it's no place for the faint-hearted.
For Michael Usher, ice used to be a very foreign concept indeed. Not any more. Michael has walked across it, climbed it, paddled through it and simply marvelled at its majestic beauty. He's also learned a thing or two about how much it all means to us and the planet.

Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish. Reminds me of the people who when I was a kid were telling us that we should not reproduce at all, because by the year 2000, the world would be a total desert and we would be able to grow any food if people in my generation had children. People are always lying about 'the planet' and 'man is the enemy of nature.' Sorry, man is PART of nature, and that INCLUDES man's ability to manipulate nature. We are as much a part of the ecosystem as any other species on the planet. The earth can cope with us or we would not be here. Does that mean we can't abuse our environment? No. But it DOES mean that if someone DOES abuse the planet, we can fix that. Humans are the solution to human problems. That's how humans fit into the ecosystem: we are the only animals that can work against nature (including refusing to reproduce and killing our young and old), and we are the only ones who have the ingenuity to fix things when people choose to mess things up. One thing we need to stop doing is killing the incipient humans who might grow up to innovate solutions to the problems of the previous generation. The biggest mistake humans are making is not polluting the earth - we've turned that around DRAMATICALLY in so many ways since the 1960s. The biggest mistake is wiping out the next generation of problem-solvers because we are too selfish to let them see the light of day and maybe fix the mess we've made. Have kids, teach them to love their planet, and encourage them to learn science. They will fix it. Just don't make them want to kill themselves with your gloom and doom about humanity.

I don’t think people are freaking out enough about climate change - I think the eco system is going to die first. For example the sea ice melt, old news- how about fresh water glaciers screwing up the salinity and watersheds. Does that help the people trying to shut down mining and logging in the Amazon? I think indigenous people are the only ones that would make it.

I have a very difficult time attempting to figure out how anyone who lacks the intelligence to comprehend that it is an absurd assertion to suggest that we live on the surface of a ball covered by mostly water expects they have the insight to know the first thing about the environment of the realm we dwell in. Please just stop it with all this plane(t) nonsense! You fail a basic litmus test every time you use the term globe or planet.

Allah (S.W.T.) has made this world as a globe. You can deny it all you want, but you will see it on the Day of Judgement the reality. Arguing about the shape of the earth isn’t the reason why Allah (S.W.T.) has sent you to this world. You were created for a purpose, and your primary purpose is to submit and worship your Creator alone, Allah. He is the Lord of all that exists. Ask your Creator for guidance. He will guide you to your purpose in life if you ask sincerely. Don’t waste time with anything else, until you know your purpose in life. Turn to your Lord and ask for guidance. May Allah (S.W.T.) guide you and bestow upon you His Blessings; Ameen.
