Philippines gave the WORST answer : popular with uneducated masses but closed-minded when one listens to it carefully. The comments from people who are not in the judging panel, unable to accept their candidates’ limitations are extremely tiresome & make the contest even less interesting. Miss Universe is first and foremost a diplomat who should have master at the very least two languages.

In my opinion, when she (Philippines) said that "as long as your heart is to serve and you have a strong mind to show to people, then you can be Miss Universe", this is a wrong statement and if it was correct, then Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Angelina Jolie can become Miss Universe. We know it takes more than influencing and inspiring to become Miss Universe. It takes beauty, personality and relatability. Miss Philippines' answer is a textbook answer (we've heard this answer from so many pageant contestants from different versions of pageantry so this is no longer an original slogan). Miss USA on the other hand is bubbly and more relatable than the Philippines who is somehow contained within the pageantry standard. So Olivia won, not Janine.

I have a kind of conspiration of why Philippines didn't win, and I think it was because they asked her the same question 3 times (2 in rehearsals, 1 in the final) and they wanted that she answers: it should be... I think that because, you also can see Venezuela's mistake and it could be a destiny signal to answer: it should be... I think that judges knew with certain that Venezuela would answer in English in final (and as we've seen her English isn't as good as her performance) and for that reason they chose Venezuela to answer first and in this way show to Philippines that English is important to be a Miss Universe.
