I find it mechanically marvelous how quickly the Princess Coronation Class can accelerate.

A Corrie at LNER land is like first few years of nationalisation where locomotives were swapped around. As a child I saw a blue painted A4 pulling a northbound express at Harrow and Wealdstone c1949

What a storming no nonsense exit from Kings X.

Thank you for this excellent video. I'm 76 years of age and when I was three years of age (age proven by an older cousin) I went by train from Brighton to Swindon which meant changing trains in London. (Reason for the trip, my paternal Grandfather was in hospital with not long to live) I remember looking up at the steam locomotives and seeing sooty faces peering down at me. I also remember pooping my pants in Victoria station and my mother taking me into the ladies toilets for the clean up job. LOL. My mother was 21 years of age when I was born and was a teenage guard on the railways out of Swindon during the second world war. She was more than once on trains heading into London when bombs were dropping I'm told.

Lovely video production. The view of the footplate was sheer joy. I'm too young 60 to remember these in service but am in awe of their beauty and engineering appeal. The great train illustrator cuthbert Hamilton Ellis remarked they were the most handsome of all steam trains with perfect mechanical balance.double blast pipe lovely valve gear sir William stanier got it right. Crimson lake colour that was supposed to be midland red but wasn't quite to quote Hamilton ellis, beautiful locomotive. Please keep your lovely productions going. Perhaps a nice GWR Manor class of Charles collets Foxton Manor would be very welcome 👍 ps the fireman and driver were most obliging and thanks guys for helping make my day. Well done love it a whiff of pure nostalgia from when we made good mechanical engineering examples like this.🙂

Great video. A reminder that a pacific leaving a London terminus with an express was an everyday EVENT! (although I might include a Deltic in that). Today's trains glide out unnoticed.

I used to drive the 43's out of Kings X up the ECML... With 4500 hp under the bonnet ( 2250 hp ) one up front and one up the botty there was plenty of power on tap... Pulling out of the station on notch five with the Paxman Valenta turbo's screaming their little heads off and clouds of exhaust smoke ( sorry Greta Thunberg ) was something to behold with more excitement to enjoy... 125 mph here we come although they would top 148 mph... Now there is food for thought but as I did not fancy tea and biscuits with the Boss well need I say more...

So few photographers at the station? Here in Wales we appreciate steam, we had 3 locos in Barry when they were exchanged, have a look on MikeWilcockRailways

Really enjoyed it, thanks. Particularly enjoyed the detail shots and the one on the footplate. Is it a tradition for drivers to be grumpy? 😄

Lovely engine, very brisk start but please, please for the sake of our beautiful language don’t put apostrophes for plurals. Videos not video’s and ages not age’s!

Blimy !! I didn't know that, thanks for an easily remembered rule. Question ? Is it Too or To.
@michaelgriffin1458 Жыл бұрын
@@sidscrote7570 There are TOO many options TO cover here but I want TO help you TO understand this TOO. I like TO watch steam trains TOO. Too sounds like BOO and TO is short but not quite as short as a Yorkshire t' as in "trouble at t'mill. To is the obligatory first part of English infinitives like to run, to jump, to cry, to sleep, in fact any English verb.
