A customer just brought me one of my all time favorite cars and it's in dire need of mechanical attention and body work! Come along #WITHME as I get this old car running and driving again for the first time in decades and assess the damage for future repairs.

Man, that dipstick rotating assembly issue is weird, didn’t know that was possible. Good work getting it driving, the customer is lucky to have a video documenting the process. When you turned around and “The Green Machine” was there ready for the parts run it was a badass moment, it looks so fun to drive and must turn heads everywhere you go. How long do you expect this project to take? Interested to see how the body and paint process goes.

@@eastbayhounds7604 Thanks man! I literally just got back inside from an awesome day of dirtbikes and camp fires. At the time it seemed logical but I'm starting to question my decision to stuff ALL of this into part one. I think I'll try not to make the next part so long. This was my first experiment in filming work free hand with no camera stand and I honestly feel a lot of the shots are really cramped/claustrophobic feeling but I didn't wanna throw them away either. And yeah The Green Machine generates crazy attention, people are always waving, snapping pictures and starting up conversations. The Tbird could be here a couple months though, longest I've ever had a customers car here was 8 months but that was weather/timing related and it sat here over the winter. I wanna try to get this one roadworthy before I jump into the body work so we likely won't see much visual improvement for an episode or two. Hope you're doing good! Thanks for taking the time to check out the vid!

@Antonio Claudio Michael Yeah a good thorough cleaning, patches for the floor rot, some cheap slip on covers for the front seats and a new carpet kit would work wonders for the interior.

I don't think i've ever seen one of these. What a cool body style for a car. I don't have time to finish this video today, but i will be back soon, promise! This is a long one!

@Consolidated Freedom Thanks a lot man! I put a lot of effort into the car and this vid so it turned out very long. Some of the more redundant parts like extra times I had to remove/install and retune the carb and a lot of the cleanup process were left on the cutting room floor for times sake though. This video could have easily been over two hours long.

Are the valve seats hardened on green machine's engine, or do you use a lead additive?
@Impactjunky
@Impactjunky 4 жыл бұрын
@King Erik The Great, The 1st I used to use NOS octane booster that has a lead additive back when I had the old 66 273 but this is a 93 ish 5.9 Magnum with a carb swap intake and old school Mopar Performance electronic distributor. It runs great on pump premium and I can run pretty much any pump gas with adjustments.

@@kingerikthegreatest.ofall.7860 It came out of a full size Ram van but the 5.9 magnum from trucks, Rams, vans and Durangos are identical.

No Bondo replace the metal really??
@Impactjunky
@Impactjunky 3 жыл бұрын
@Raymond Holley You do realize that almost everyone that welds new metal into a car body has to use bondo to smooth out the repair right? I've been watching and doing resto work for years and never seen a metal patch panel get zapped in that didn't need a layer of bondo to make it perfect.
@raymondholley8646
@raymondholley8646 3 жыл бұрын
Might have to put some metal in the car there is no metal in that car it needs a complete rame off all new metal restoration to do it right you will spend probably ten times more than the car will be worth when finish it's not a desirable car
@Impactjunky
@Impactjunky 3 жыл бұрын
@Raymond Holley This is a unibody car, it doesn't have a frame. You can't do a frame off restoration on a car that doesn't have a removable frame. Also this car only has a few minor rust holes in it so I'll have it fixed and looking beautiful for my customer in no time at all with a very small bill. The car is gonna look as good as new when I'm done and it will only cost him about $1500-$2000. The best part is the 61-63 is the most desirable highest price Thunderbird ever made so after paying me 2k he can turn around and resell the car for several times what he paid to get it fixed.

Man i dont know if i give you to fix my car. Then you start talking like you want to screw the new parts or maybe weld it. Oh boy oh boy just dont do it
@Impactjunky
@Impactjunky 3 жыл бұрын
@idealu5 Your english is is horrible dude. And a 40 year restoration professional taught me how to rivet and screw in patch panels. Properly installed rivets or screws hold just as strong as any weld. If rivets and screws are good enough for a massive 400 MPH bomber plane then I think they can handle a 120 MPH car just fine.
@idealu5
@idealu5 3 жыл бұрын
@@Impactjunky my english is not my main language, but its good that you understand me. There i live noone is doing this, only self made mechanics. There are meny steps to do this properly, it took much more time but its worth it. We fix car until its allmoust perfect and no need a lot of putty, we using spoters, sand blasters, welding machine old cars worth it.
