64. Skills - How to 90° Alley Docking Park? - Class B CDL School Bus

3 жыл бұрынThis brief presentation provides tips on how to adequately perform the alley docking manœuvre. This parking procedure is part of the skill course part of the CDL test. The example is provided with a 2019 Bluebird Vision conventional style school bus, in Richmond Hill, Georgia.
You are allowed to use two pull-ups and two get-out-and-looks, when examined for this procedure.
For more details, refer to your state's Department of Motor Vehicles-issued Commercial Driver's License Manual.

Oregon allows two pull-ups but you are not allowed to get out and look. You are required to set a referene point for your bumper and then get it into the box. I had my point off and failed my last test because I was short a few inches. In practice I nailed it. Thanks for this video. I found it very helpful.

I've been practicing alley dock parking for my driving exam next Thursday and it hasn't been going well at all so far. I'm being taught to line myself up with a dotted line as my wall and not cones. And I believe cones would be more helpful.

Hi, Christopher E. Thanks for watching. Depending on where you test (state, district, etc.), there might be minor differences. I comply with the guidelines of the state of Georgia. If you live in a different state, you might want to check with your instructor and ask why cones are not been used. Actually, please keep me posted on that. I would like to know. That said, your point is taken. I also prefer cones. Thank you.

Hi, Mark Sointu. Thank for watching. The length of the wall is not specified, but it is assumed that its length covers the entire area where you have to manœuvre including the box. I hope this helps.

what is the distance measurement from your wall to where you are going to back in.

The box itself is 3' longer than your school bus. Supposing your bus is 40' long, the box should be 43'. The wall should be located an additional 50' further. This means that in that case the wall would be 93' away from the back cones (40'+3'+50'=93'). I hope this helps. Thank you for watching, Katherine Skomoroh Morton.
