The original Gordie Howe Bridge Construction playlist:
• Gordie Howe Internatio...
Iron workers installing a 68,000 lb steal cross beam in Windsor, Ontario.
Gordie Howe International Bridge is a six lane bridge with a width that allows for a future expansion to eight lanes, and will still include the pedestrian trail. It's going be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America and will also set a world record for the longest composite steel and concrete cable-stayed bridge deck in the world.
The Gordie Howe International Bridge will connect Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, in Canada. The bridge is named after Gordie Howe, who played for the Detroit Red Wings. The bridge will facilitate trade and traffic between the US and Canada and provide another crossing point between Detroit and Windsor.
The bridge is designed as a cable-stayed bridge, with cables anchored to pylons that support the bridge deck. This design allows for longer spans with a nice appearance.
Six Lanes: The bridge will have three lanes in each direction to for vehicular traffic between Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario.
Pedestrian and Bicycle Access: The design includes pedestrian and bicycle access, providing alternative ways of transportation and recreational use of the bridge.
Customs and Inspection Facilities: The bridge will feature customs and inspection facilities on both the Canadian and U.S. sides to facilitate the fast flow of international trade and travel.

Yes, awesome video, and with the music blended in as well. Imagine if film was used... where would a big role of film go in a drone? How big would a drone have to be to record this? Digital cards and cameras have come a long way to make this type of recording so much easier, not filming, there's no film as some people still call it.

Stunning and amazing, the work and the video. The precision of the crane operator, the daring of those men high above the Detroit River, a river you do NOT want to plunge into, the boaters below observing on this beautiful day, the lake freighter passing underneath, how perfect it all is. I drive by this every day going both to and from work, but the view from afar is so brief and unsatisfying.

The most impressive part to me is how much those cables support from above without needing support columns. I would imagine that’s their plans for the new key bridge eventually. Might have to become an iron worker for a little bit and try to help build it. Shame Lu 16 isn’t around anymore

Unbelievable video !!!! I have no idea what the salary is for these highly skilled iron workers but surely it’s not enough.

Thanks but my comment wasn’t meant to determine their actual salary. The work that Iron Workers do is mind boggling and your excellent videos show just how difficult and dangerous their jobs are.

@@vinceromano8245 I understand. They should get pad more. Maybe a salary of a pro athlete, with endorsements.

So cable stayed bride and suspension bridge can get awry because of wind. The behaviour is like half pendulum. To prevent this, one can design with very low strain. Another thing that can be done is, span can designed like inverted wing of air plane.

I would like to see a video on how they install a cable stay. Will the Canadian crew have the honor of installing the first horizontal piece connecting both sides?
