68 - Test Drive

2009 Thomas C2 taken for a test drive in the summer time. This was recorded back on 18/07/2019. So please excuse my nasty, sweaty self. It was scorching hot this summer, on that day it was about 95 with the head index reaching shy of 110. So yeah, kinda warm.
Yall have seen this bus plenty of times before, just look back and you can find it when it was new. 220 horse 6.7 Cummins mated to the Allison 2500. Air ride, door, seat, and brakes. Black tint and window frames and posts. Dual LED stop arms and strobbing LED warning lights. Nicely speced for some early C2s.

i wonder why all of the first gen c2’s got that axle whine sound. we got two first gens and the axles sound exactly the same.

Most school buses have some sort of axle hum because I’ve been on several. Even brand new ones they’ll have some sort of noise in the rear axle. Some don’t but many do.

⁠@@charlesrodriguez7984yeah I know that all buses have some sort of axle hum, but something abt the first gen C2s has a louder hum that cuts off whenever the foot is taken for the throttle, as opposed to the hum on other buses being continuous and contingent on the speed of the bus only

Thats the sound of the gears in the rear differential. It can usually be heard more when you sit in the back of the bus, above the rear wheels, as thats where the differential is located.

@@golfguy25some buses don’t have that noise but it’s the gear on the driveshaft that’s In contact with the drive gear on the differential that causes that sound.

Either bad fuel pump, bad starter/battery, or relay is going out or dirty filter

Chase Jones defiantly wasn’t the starter or battery it was cranking pretty strong for a good bit

@@TechOut probably fuel pump. Or just so hot, it did say nearly 100° in the description, our Cummins tend to do this sometimes but only up to 4 seconds at the most,
