I had some issues with the Woodland Mills WC68 wood chipper control arm popping out of position and returning to neutral. The meant I had to manually hold the control arm bar out in order to keep the hydraulic in feed to stay running. I watched videos but nothing was working for me. I contacted Woodland Mills direct and they had the fix.

Great video. I have the WC88 and used it for the first time today and encountered the same issue. I’m going to try the fix when I get back to the shop. I guess I should have read the manual. The fix is on page 46. Thanks for sharing that.

I hope that helps. They had to send me the info for the fix. No issues since. Good luck 🤞

Boy Dave, that one was a real issue. It appears all the good stuff we hear about Woodland Mills customer service is true. Good for them. Their service can make or break their products.

Thank you for making this video! I've got their 8" chipper, and love it. But I was having the same issues you were with the control arm continually kicking back into neutral. That's been my only issue so far with it, otherwise it's been flawless. I didn't realize that there was a "fix" for it. I had seen other people having the same "issue" if you want to call it that on their KZfaq videos, and nobody addressed it, other than to mention that theirs kicked out of gear often as well. I thought that it was just something that I was going to have to live with. I put the chipper on my larger 73HP tractor, and then park my little BX next to the large tractor, with a wagon attached to it, then I just chip into the wagon that's attached to the BX, and then go dump the chips wherever I wanted to. I was considering bungee strapping the control arm to the BX so that it would stay in the infeed position, but that didn't seem like the safest idea to me. I'm SO glad that somebody (YOU) actually had enough common sense to contact Woodland Mills about this! I'm surprised that this issue, and it's "fix" isn't addressed in their owner's manual. I would hope that they'll update the owner's manual soon so that future buyers can easily fine a remedy for the problem. I've also got their stump grinder, and like it a lot. I don't know if you have a use for a stump grinder, but it you do, I highly recommend theirs. I just found your email address on your homepage, so I'm going to email the link to that guy's video to you there.

You're welcome, Jeff! I love the WM products and they make a solid chipper. Like you, I had watched a bunch of videos claiming to "fix" the issue but it wasn't working. One of the reasons I chose Woodland Mills is because people raved about their customer service. I reached out and they had a fix for me the same day. Great company indeed. I hope they add the "adjustment" to their manual as well as it seems to be a common issue coming straight from the factory. I would love to add a grinder at some point because I'm always trying to remove stumps and working with what I have but this would make it so much easier. Thanks for reaching out. I'll keep an eye out for your email. ~Dave

I had the same problem and got the same solution from Woodland. It worked for a while, then I had to adjust again. It worked again for a while. Problem came back and I am out of adjustment. Now I hold the bail lever out with bungee cords and works fine, can still easily push the lever to neutral or reverse. At 175 hours of use, still a good machine with only a few component failures, such as infeed roller springs.

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know. I haven't had to do any additional adjustments but we will see how it goes. I do love this machine though.

I'd keep my hands and arms out of the chute. A piece kicking around easily can cause some serious damage when it smashes a limb against the chute. Just sayin'.

Thank you for posting these videos. No joke I've been thinking about picking one of these up. I'm kinda torn between a wood chipper and a leaf vac though. Probably will eventually get both, but wanted to space out the purchases. What do you think?
@BeginnerforBSeries
@BeginnerforBSeries Жыл бұрын
I would get the leaf vac first as you can rent a chipper and stock up the branches. Leaves come when they want. My thoughts anyways. Let me know what you have decided.

I also recently bought this machine and like you, tried to contact them on Victoria Day! Had the same issue with that bar kicking out. Very good customer service and needed to make that same adjustment. There is a sweet spot for that. Keep in mind that bar is there as a safety so getting it too tight to the point it takes a lot of effort to kick into neutral is not good! It did take a few tries to get it dialed in where it wasn't kicking out but would disengage easy enough when you bump it with your thigh. Last thing I'd want is to trip or slip and not have it disengage. There's also a sweet spot on that spring tension to keep it feeding.

Your are right there, Doug. It took my a while and to correct my stupidity to adjust it properly. I think it's good now. Luckily that has a long chute so almost impossible to get way down in there with a body part without hitting that control arm back to neutral. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience as well.
