Very good review of probably the most used vacuum by detailing professionals and enthusiasts alike. I personally have the Pneumatic George which is a true "dual" unit being a dry shop vac AND a very good extractor but added the RIGID detailing kit. The detailing kit is a very worthwhile and good value addition to this vacuum or any shop vacuum really.

The hose is my favourite part of the kit. The stock hose is so crappy in comparison but also not too upset because the setup is so cost effective. I can’t wait to see how long the hose holds up.

Just bought this vac and I love it. Super portable and light weight easy to use. I would like to buy the detailing kit in the near future or wait till it goes on sale. For an adapter I would go into the plumbing section and maybe find one there, if not custom make one from plumbing parts. Thanks

I'm currently using the shop vac "superhawkeye" wet/dry vac! It's 6.5 horsepower and is 10 gallons. Interesting enough it's only a smidgen bigger than the" ridged"! It also has a removable base with wheels! I chose it because it has considerable more suction than the ridged and more importantly it has more "water lift" wich is the true way of measuring suction in a wet/ dry vac. It also has better attachments as well. Its weird it never got the attention that the ridged has amongst the detail community!

A major problem that Rigid has is the hose detaches from the end where the tools attach. I used an adhesive, then reinforced with Gorilla Tape. I noticed in other videos, often the end is taped by other detailers. I also purchased a small set of micro tools which are very useful when cleaning interiors. I purchased them from my local Walmart. Also, this vacuum can be used as a dyer. It has a blower port (as most vacuums have), as you said. Because of its's size, this vacuum works well to place inside the back row of a 3 row suv and the hose will reach the front.

I’m not having that particular issue yet but I can see that happening with more use in the future. If Ridgid even redesigns their stuff, I hope they put locking ends on both sides. Thank you for watching and commenting.

I would check and see about making one with PVC pipe fittings. But other that that you can remove the end off the hose itself and install the size you want on it!

13:40 I have the same issue. The best way I found is to have the original black hose with you if you want to use that attachment. Otherwise, you won't be able to use it with the orange hose. If you find the solution, please let us know. Thank you Nassr

almost went with this...then found the Crafstman xsp (about same price but more/better attachments as is) and the VacMaster Beast...stronger motor, better attachments and cheaper right now on Amazon for like 65-70 bucks on sale. Good machine, but I think I will being trying the Beast. Huh.

How on earth does the long, black, 2 piece attachment that comes with the vacuum, attach to the upgraded hose end? Sorry for the silly question, but I honestly can't figure out how the two connect, different size connector points? Am I overlooking a adapter? Id really like to vacuum my shop floor without hurting my back, tks.

Oh I might point out that when you add the upgraded hose on the ridged it loses suction! Just a FYI...

So I bought the aftermarket hose and attached it to my Ridgid 6.5hp 14 gallon vacuum. It makes a horrible whistling sound so much so one can't work with it. It's literally ear splitting. I turned it off really quick and said nope. Went back to the house that came with it and it's normal. I'm afraid to get another hose.

I bought the same detailing kit and I returned it due to the downsizing of the hose connection. Why have a big hose and then make the connection 1.25. I exchanged it for the pro hose full size. I then bought the accessories seperate. No adapters needed. Hopefully that helps someone to avoid the mistake that I made.

I have a DIY adapter that I cannibalized from other adapter kits in order to use the extension wands and accessories from the vacuum. I also bought the 6 hp version that the motor comes off and has a leaf blower attachment. If your still interested in a cure for the problem that nobody has has made an adapter for, let me know.

Can you use the vac without the filter but with the filter bad?

Yes you can. I use it with both because i don't want to risk any debris blowing out.

For fine dust, it helps to keep it from blowing out the back. I used it attached to concrete grinder. Worked well. The Harbor Frieght is actually a stronger vac, (5gallon), but it let out more dust and it just didnt work well in my experience.
