6LACK has been an advocate for mental health awareness, but hasn’t always felt like he was able to talk about his own mental health experience. In his third album, ‘I Have a Lover’, 6LACK touches on self-care, therapy and move forward with uplifting intentions.
6LACK meets up with Zane Lowe in the solitude of the Topanga mountainside to give a look at what his life has looked like since being isolated during the pandemic.
6LACK discusses the impact of being in a dynamic with a supportive partner, and how having a daughter has changed his life and perspective. These life experiences have informed his music evolution since FREE 6LACK, culminating in ‘Since I Have a Lover.’
This new album reflects those changes, and has features from Don Toliver, Wale and more.

The word ‘interview’ is an illusion. It simply means, I give you permission to talk to me and record it. The best ‘interviews’ are conversations, but without two compelling individuals it can quickly become stale - unlike this gem

Totally agree. I guess, the reason why album didn't make big sales is because the man was silent for about 3 years which is too long for artists of his calibr nowadays. Also, album's singles didn't blow up. However, album is still awesome, calming, meaningfull and full of pure emotions. Not as good as previous 2 imho, but still good

Loved this entire interview, there wasn’t a part throughout the whole video in which I couldn’t resonate with and I’m grateful for that. Quite literally going through exactly what he went through years ago, and for someone to vocalize that so eloquently speaking about his experiences while undergoing growth is clarifying🙏🏼. Also an introvert, it was helpful to see a lot of similar problems, obstacles and similar solutions, especially about the park and the walk. About unblocking through accepting yourself in creativity, even its ugliest part, that's what you should strive for first of all, it's the key to the next level! I'm loving the new album from 6LACK. It's been a long wait, but it was worth it. He really shows his range and creativity on this project with different vibes. The album has some dope features. The singles, "Since I Have a Lover", "Talkback" and "Fatal Attraction", are fire, but the whole album is a vibe. It's a perfect balance of love, pain and self-care.
