6th Sense Draw 6.5 First Look

The draw has been a good bait for me but I think the new smaller draw thats down to 6.5 inches from 9 inches is going to be a great bait!!

1oz easy money can throw rhat on MHF, i throw 6" soft swim baits that weigh 1.25 to 1.5oz on it and it works amazing

From my very limited use of the 9" I like the action of it. I can see myself get one or two of the smaller ones though. I'm not scared to throw either the trace or the draw since I bought the heater swimbait rod last year, the rods a beast, though I think a 200 size reel would definitely be more appropriate over the 300 size I have, couldn't pass up a lews super duty in lefty on sale for I think 150.

I have the miliken xxxrtra heavy swimbait rod and a 200hg scorpion, I almost went the 300 route but I’m glad I didn’t the 200 is perfect. I have the Casey custom draw in a rainbow pattern, I really love the full size draw I really can’t wait to get the new one in the water. Besides swimbaits I also throw umbrella and my 1oz+ jigs on it, things a beast. My 4k bluegill 6” trace lives on it most of the time till later in the summer then my draws take over.

@@northwest-fisherman so mine is the 6th sense heater series 7"8" extra heavy fast 1/2 to 5 oz, it so far is really good and can handle anything I'm willing to throw on it. The reels good but just slightly too big. It would honestly make a good salt water reel which it is rated for. I may change out after a while. The draw from the bank is good but I bet it's even better on the kayak. I can only imagine the smaller draw is that much more better.

What is the main difference between the draw and the trace. I have both but have not tried them yet. Thanks for the review.

The draw is a glide bait and the trace is a multi jointed hard body swim bait the biggest difference is how you retrieve them and how they move through the water. It’ll make way more sense when you get them in the water. The trace you can retrieve like a normal bait and it’s still super effective the draw not so much it likes to be chopped with the reel with quick turns.

In my experience with the 6.5 is that it's not as stable as the original Draw, hiwever it is wasily remedied by modifying the bait by sanding the forward section to open up the jointed area to allow more movement. This provides more stability whwn being chopped. So far the only mass produced glidebait that I found out of box that can be chopped is a Savage Gear Glide Swimmer in the 5.25" model. Also, i find tha in my waters, the Draw 6.5 floats and doesn't slow sink. After contating 6th Sense, they said that is normal. This is also easily fixed by adding wire the hooks to achieve the desired fall rate or by going a size up in hooks.

I haven’t had the right conditions to fish it yet but I’m pretty excited. A couple people have said exactly what you have about it not being quite the same as the full size. Tuning a glide in I feel is part of the game one of my draws was perfect out of the box the other took a while to get it to chop the way I wanted. I wonder if that was because one was production and the better one was a Casey custom.

Really how so I have other smaller glides but they don’t chop like the draw.

It just kept falling over and if you slow retrieve it kept nose diving, what other glides would you Recommend I just got into it.

@@footbrakeblake interesting I’m taking it out tonight to finally try. The river2sea s-waiver is a smaller glide favorite that’s budget and size friendly, the storm arashi is a in between sized glide I have had luck with. I would recommend keep trying it and get used to how it moves. Keep in mind the easiest way to get movement you want out of it is using the reel not the rod. I should do a video explaining that because I know it didn’t make a ton of sense to me at first.

@@footbrakeblake The Draw 6.5 is more akin to the S-Waver and inherently unstable when chopped. The best way to stabilize it is to open up the joint a bit by sanding the forward section of the bait to allow more freedom of movement in the joint. Ben Milliken has a video that specially shows how it makes a difference in action for the OP Draw and the Flow Glider 130.
