It is what it is. This project isn't intended to be the most perfectly engineered off road lawn tractor in the world. But it clearly works pretty well, so don't be so critical guys. It's also version 2.0, not 12.0. Sure, there are ways to make this rig better. I've got three lawn tractors sitting in my yard and who knows, maybe I'll try my hand at building a better version. But until I or someone else builds a superior rig, don't be so quick to point out flaws in this one. This guy deserves a round of free beer for his efforts. It took a lot of work to put together a working model, test it, disassemble it, and build it back better. That's the mark of a dedicated DIY project guy who just wasn't satisfied with the first version because he knew he could improve the design...and he did. My hat's off to DangerDave.

Just my two cents. But the 2 axles need hooked up solid together. And a pivot in the center. So you will have the right down pressure.

Similar drive set up on the old JohnDeere Gator 6wheelers, for the rear wheels. They have the engine sitting over the wheels and that weight being there makes all the difference in regards to traction.

@sponge850bobette75 жыл бұрын
Matthew Barnes superb idea. I would get fat tires in front. More stability. But I must say that I admire all this work. I have 11hp snowblower with 3 forward speeds and 2 reverse. I want to convert it to a rear riding (standing up) log skidder or all purpose pulling vehicule (gravel, dirt, etc) . With a 2in hitch it would fit with my boat trailer, big garden trailer, destasher.

very cool, i was wondering how you got the gear ratio to work on the rear axle, then i saw you just made a live axle setup. very cool,. i never thought about that. thanks for the idea, also cool build👍👍 now all you need is a set of uni-trax, like on an argo you could change in and out.

Dave Great Great build. If you put the Battery in the back over the second set of wheels your traction would increase by a good 30% Then nothing would stop you! Peace my friend.

maybe but then your turning radius would increase by like 30% too.

looks good! reverse the tread on the front tires or buy aggressive ribs though
@kevinkeyser10158 жыл бұрын
Great build! My $.02, both rear tires should be the same size. It appears that you have a larger diameter on the rear set. But again, great build!
@DangerDave958 жыл бұрын
the back tires are identical, but the front set are new and have narrower rims, that's why they look different...
@TheRIFLEMAN2436 жыл бұрын
That was excellent!! And made very stout to handle the mower's weight no problem. What size atv tires did you use for the front tires???
@xsbiggy63498 жыл бұрын
add a more aggressive tread to the rear tires instead of the turf savers and it'd grip a lot more. plus add a little weight over the back axle

@georgboldt72278 жыл бұрын

@Mo-ih4gr8 жыл бұрын

why it wouldnt? it would be like snowmobile but 2 tracks insted of two.. well yeah you can weight transfer on snowmobile but so you can on this.Mo S.
@Mo-ih4gr8 жыл бұрын
+Saksugamer because you would tons of traction in the back and not enough in the front. engine isn't enough weight and it wouldn't be easy to distribute your weight. it would be awkward
