It doesn’t matter that you paid for insurance and didn’t use it. It’s insurance not a savings account. You might have needed the full policy amount in the first month. Biden’s policies, which Newsome has doubled down on, have driven costs so high, they have to leave.

@@jasonborne5724 Like the man in the article said, the insurance companies in CA are paying out the nose for fire damage because everybody wants to build a house in the forest and they want a lush, green forest at that. But when you run utilities (electric) through the forest because your state doesn't allow local power generation, don't be surprised when things spark and ignite your little hamlet. After years of Californians torching their forests the insurance companies have decided to pull out because they're not a charity. Same thing for SoCal -- subdivisions have expanded into fire-prone deserts and brush fires have taken their toll. California is an awesome example of FAFO on so many levels.

Not necessarily. Depends on the mortgage contract, but most likely the mortgage holder will get a policy and add it to your payment.

What are you talking about? If you don't know, it's because you don't want to know. This is public information. There are more natural disasters, costs to rebuild are way higher, but the state does not allow insurance companies to increase premiums to reflect this reality. If they stay, they would lose money. That's not rocket science. The state brought this upon the people.

@@WELVAS.Nope. Wildfires are right here in San Diego. It's not that hard to do the research. Now there's flooding after drout, because San Diego needs to engage in prevention. And of course, earthquakes. The part that's incorrect is how much of this is "natural" disaster that could have been avoided. Some fires have been necessary to the regions plant life. That's why controlled burning is important.

Hello Nancies, Insurers are leaving Florida because homeowners are selling their rights away to money hungry contractors thru AOBs. Contractors then hire attorneys to litigate. I’m sure you were aware… As a homeowner myself, I’d recommend educating oneself rather than thinking of insurers as a big bad boogeymen.

Look at the property prices in Cali, labor costs, material costs etc. it’s not early 1950’s California, rebuilding a destroyed home costs some serious dosh and the insurance plans with the premiums need to reflect that. Stop limiting what private companies can charge to insure a home.

My mortgage company Select Portfolio was going to add a very expensive insurance since my old homeowners insurance dropped me because they had a very long list of requirements in order for me to continue with them. They wanted receipts of the last time I had my roof replaced, my plumbing too . If it was copper piping. Water heater etc. They wanted a home inspection of all these items. I told my broker I didn’t have the money for Inspector or replace major items. He suggested the California Fair Plan Association. Yes it’s just fire insurance but I am only going to pay $230 for the whole year. I can manage that and I’ll take my chances🥴🤷🏻‍♀️

@@ThomasNguyen-qw6ro Foreclosing. Mortgage contracts have a clause that state you must have insurance, if not you have to pay off your mortgage. The insurance is a hedge for the lender to recoup their loan. If your house burns down, the lender is paid off first and then you. If the property is sold with an outstanding mortgage, again, the lender is paid and if there is anything left, then you. If there isn't enough to pay off the mortgage, then you are in debt to the lender for the difference. It may not sound fair, but the lender is the one taking all the risks. If you own your home (no mortgage), then no insurance is required. There is no lender. I hope this helps. This is how it was explained to me when I bought my property.

This is mostly for fire. I remember in the 60s 2 to 300 foot wide fire breaks on all the mountian ridges to stop fire spread. Every year multable controlled burns to delete fuel. Then came the invironment do gooders who said it was ugly and not natural. Fires can't be stopped now. I thank GOD I left Cali 14 years ago.

FYI Rents still can be raised 5% plus the CPI every year, capping at 10%. So if rent is 2500 month, 10 percent is a $250 increase per month. That will help pay for the insurance

I get it. Companies in general look only to the recent quarter and projected next quarter to make decisions. They do look ahead about 36 months too, but that is vague. Insurance companies though should be in an area for the long term and that business model is flawed for their business. So, the California legislature should pass a law that excludes any of these companies from ever doing any business in California again. Also, passing that ban to any company acquiring those companies, and any subsidiaries. That will force those insurance corporations to reconsider their leaving. The impact to their future will be considerable, and actually even bankrupt them should they exclude California.

Amazing because that is the purpose of insurance is to pay for things that go wrong. This should be allowed and those that got canceled with no claims should get a 50 percent refund on the lifetime of the policy. They should not be able to collect and then run. They also should not be allowed to do business ever again in that state. Sorry but these insurance companies need to start receiving punishments. Same with health insurance companies charging as much as they do to not provide coverage when a health event happens. I am sure they are still profitable, just not making the billions in profit as forecasted. So they can not get a huge bonus or their half a million dollar salary. Perhaps they should adjust the pay of top executives and then they will reach the profit goals for the company.

100% incompetence. If you know you have a wild fire problem, then you cut the trees to a certain point and add enough pavement that in case a forests catches fire, it doesn't come near houses. For all the taxes that Californians pay, that's the least their government can do for them.

Actually they didn’t. Before the 2020 election coup, the dems led by Newsom’s auntie Nancy Pelosi and pal Jerry Brown worked out the election theft bugs over a period of time in California. Even the overwhelming majority of recall signatures didn’t fluster Gavin Newsom. He knew it was already in the bag.

People will have to soon self-insure. The upside is that homes will get much, much cheaper if people have no access to insurance. That could be the solution to unaffordable homes. That's a lot better than to have lots of home that few can afford.

What I noticed is that there is no legitimate reason in this broadcast given to as why this is happening. They mentioned the weather but that is no reason for them to pull out of California. There's weather in all states that causes damage to houses so what is the real excuse. Are they pulling out because the state government passed laws that makes it difficult for shady practices of insurance companies or did they go in the other direction and pass laws to push out insurance company so that homeowners can't afford insurance so that if something happens to their house they're forced to move out and rent Apartments which is the ultimate goal of the people controlling state and federal governments. As Klaus Schwab of the world economic Forum has said that by the year 2030 we will own nothing and rent everything because that is their intention

What's happening is the state insurance commissioner sets up regulation which provides price controls of home insurance and because of inflation, cost of labor, paying claims cost of litigations, rapidly rising costs of construction etc. its simply not profitable to run insurance in California so because insurers are losing money hand over fist every time a wildfire goes through a neighborhood their bottom-line has been affected so due to the lack of profitability and extremely tight regulation on insurance companies they're left with no choice to pull out or face bankruptcy.
