I use a triple mag Skar 15" sub with a triple mag 8" sub both dual coil 2ohm. I run both of them together at 1/2 ohm on a 500 watt(rated for 2ohm lol I think) with a meanwell power supply. My bass is Epic, but mu God man I want to know what yours is like now!. I have wondered if I wired them up at 8ohm if I could power it with a normal home sub amp.

Yes you can use towers as ATMOS speakers. Pretty overkill but nothing wrong with that.

Hi, I have the 5040u projector connected to an onkyo nr1030. The projector is about 4-5 metres away from the amp, I am having the issue of an occasional black screen for a matter of seconds, I can still hear the video that's playing. Any ideas what could be causing the issue? I feel it's the AV receiver or hdmi cable. Loving your set up, movie nights must be awesome

Love it so much! Specially the screen area with the hidden speakers. What distance do you have between your screen and projector. You mentioned having to put the projector behind the wall in order to get the 150in screen. I am trying to get a 125in cinemascope 2:35:1 screen also but my room is only 12 feet deep. Wonder if I can get it using same projector.

hi youthman i have 120 inch Elite screens fixed frame. I have owned it for several years and do not like the sparkle i get from it in some scenes. We have the same projector and I have noticed this since my 6030 was new. In the 14 years you have owned your screen have you come across any you like better better for around the same price? Do you know if any of those advertised screen paints would be any good to paint over my screen? love your system i wish i had the space for a front stage like that i have horn loaded speakers as well no room for a third for centre EV interface Ds

Hey Youthman, I have a 7.2 setup right now and want to upgrade my AV receiver to something that has 2 HDMI out so I can have my tv and projector both plugged in. I want my next receiver to be able to handle at least 9 channels in case I decide to upgrade to atmos speakers in the future. My question is do I buy a receiver that also does the amplification or should I plan on going to separates and get a receiver and amplifier.
@Youthman
@Youthman 4 жыл бұрын
When I upgraded from the Marantz SR8012 to the Marantz AV77”5 with Monolith 11X, it was a noticeable improvement in channel separation. It wasn’t night and day difference. Separates are cheaper in the long term as you only need to upgrade the pre/pro down the road. Quality amps can last many, many years. But there are also some really great receivers that do very well.

Hey youthman :) looking to your channel for while now. Im looking to change my receiver for Marantz SR8012 or AV7705 like you. When you say the sound is very good on AV7705 vs 8012. You mean you had your 8012 hook up with your monolith also ? Or you just buy monolith amplifier at the same time you change your pre-amp 7705?
@Youthman
@Youthman 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have used the SR8012 with a few amps including the Parasound Halo A52+. Never heard a huge difference when adding an amp to the SR8012. Bigger difference was going from the SR8012 to the AV7705.

Have a question and need professional option. I got a huge bonus from work and trying to determine the best path. Should I upgrade my 4k tv from 55in to the LG C9 OLED 65in? Or buy another subwoofer SB-3000 for duals and upgrade my surround speakers at the same time? The budget is 3500, so I can do one or the other. I figure wait until Black Friday and get the bigger tv. Thank you in advance.
@Youthman

I haven’t owned a TV in 13 years so I’m probably not the one to give advice on that. It really depends on what you feel is lacking the most in your setup. Unfortunately that is a question only you can answer

hey youthman, I am thinking of going with a 16:9 150" acoustically transparent screen for my theater, do you ever regret going 2.4:1 on the screen due to the resolution loss and movies video games and youtube videos shot in multiple aspect ratios?
@Youthman
@Youthman 4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely zero regrets. It would drive me up the wall to have grey bars on top and bottom and lose the height I get with 2.35:1. I do 90% 2.35:1 content so it only makes sense to use a 2.35:1 screen. If you watch a lot of TV, sports or game, a 16:9 might be a better option

@Youthman
@Youthman Жыл бұрын
Hi David, I’m assuming by tuner you mean AVR (Audio Video Receiver). Denon and Marantz are solid and easy to setup and use and would be a nice upgrade over your Sony AVR. Budget and how many speakers you need to power will help dictate the models

Hey Michael, another great video. But I am really intrigued by the IR repeater. I never knew that could be done (I guess I never read the manual that closely...LOL). Anyway, I have a Marantz AV8805 and an OPPO UDP-205 in an audio rack which, due to layout of my room, had to be located in the FRONT of the room. Not an issue until I lower my projection screen. It’s nice that the lowered screen hides all the glowing lights, but I am unable to use my remotes. I do have iPhone apps, but I really hate using them. Do you like your Lutron IR extender? Can it be used for more than one piece of equipment?...like my OPPO and Marantz? Appreciate any feedback. Did I tell you I hate using my iPhone apps? LOL 😁
@Youthman
@Youthman 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, I don't like using apps either to control my setup. My Harmony Elite sends an RF signal to the Harmony Hub which then uses the connected IR blasters from the hub to send IR codes to the various equipment in my entertainment center.

You have come a long way grasshopper from the pics you showed of your original theater room. I have approximately the same dimensions for a dedicated theater I am building. A lot of your well thought out design is being incorporated in mine. Going with the 150”transparent screen, aluminum frame on shocks & slide out component cabinet. Your DYI ideas are brilliant. I am glad I am putting the extra time in to do it right even though it will take longer to complete. Thanks for your videos.

Thank you kindly, Gary. I wish I could take credit for those ideas, but a good friend of mine made the recommendations and help me with the process. Having easy access behind my screen and easy access behind my equipment was a must.

That is a fantastic setup. I just put my own home theatre setup together. I have a smaller space to work with, so it’s a 7.1.4 Klipsch Dolby Atmos system with ceiling-firing speakers for overhead and a 77” LG CX. Just waiting on the Seatcraft Omega theatre sofa to arrive and it’s all good to go. Really enjoyed seeing your setup. Very well done with fine attention to detail.

I’m fortunate that it is a large room. We bought this house last year and I was just getting back into home theater. I have a smaller living room 7.2,4 system as well so when I tear out my main room I won’t be without a theater. The living room is awesome but the longer room just adds to the surround. It make it sound so more realistic!!!! It’s going to take a while to build but I will be uploading videos of it.

What is the distance from front to back of your riser? And do you ever have issues with reclining the rear seats and hitting the backs of the front seats?
@Youthman
@Youthman 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Trevor. My riser is 66" deep. When the rear row is reclined, the foot of the rear seats almost touch the back of the front row (not ideal). If my room was longer than 19', I could have made the riser about 1' deeper but you have to work with what you have.

@@Youthman Thank you! And amen to that. I've just got a living room setup 5.1 with bi-amped left and right channels. Nothing special, but I don't currently have the space for a dedicated room so I've just been planning with a lot of drawings. I randomly stumbled upon your video of the Monolith 11x and I've been loving all your videos. Wouldn't know half of what I do now without your videos and connections to other KZfaqrs in HiFi. So excited for the HiFi Summit!!

Incredible setup! We just finished our basement and the media room is next on my “want to” list. Ran all the speaker wire during the framing/drywall stage so I’m set up well for that. The space isn’t huge. The space for a tv/screen is about 9 ft wide (109 inches). I’m thinking an 86 inch TV may be better for my setup vs a short throw projector as the room only goes about 13 ft in length/depth Any thoughts? Also your cabinet is really what makes your setup special!
